Job SummaryThe Procurement Specialist is responsible for assisting goods and services at a competitive price, on-time delivery and top quality via issuance of a purchase order.
SUMMARY OF JOB DUTIES - Essential Functions (Other duties and projects may be assigned or requested.)Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions
- Make daily purchases within allotted programs based on requisitions and analyze the quality, specifications and delivery requirements
- Send out quotations for bid on non-contracted items and negotiates best price
- Enter purchase orders into system and issue to supplier via fax or e-mail
- Review purchase orders on a weekly basis via reporting system and follows up on past due items plus requirements due in coming weeks.
- Highlight any problem areas and reports to Purchasing Director
- Interact with Planning and Production to ensure any changes in production requirements are
- flowed down to suppliers
- Generate effective communication, good relationships, and a positive image with suppliers and co-workers promoting courtesy, objectivity and fairness
- Liaise with planners to control scheduling of parts to ensure stock levels meet demands while staying within stock level buffers
- Review Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs)/Withhold tags written against suppliers and relays such
- information to them with corrective action
- Update suppliers with engineering changes and drawings
- Review supplier performance
- Locate new suppliers (if necessary)
- A High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
- A Bachelor’s degree is desired.
- Position may be filled with both entry level and experienced candidates.
- Extended or irregular hours may be required.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States.

- Tasks may vary slightly based on products produced at a division.
- Direction with necessary guidance is provided in terms of tasks and craftsmanship and measured based upon how well tasks have been completed. Receives detailed instructions as needed.
- Develop and provide solutions to complex problems based on established precedents and are consistent with organization objectives.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
