Responsibilities:
- Assist veterinarians in providing medical care to animals
- Perform routine procedures such as vaccinations, blood draws, and dental cleanings
- Monitor and record vital signs of animals during procedures and treatments
- Administer medications and treatments as directed by veterinarians
- Prepare animals for surgery and assist during surgical procedures
- Take and develop X-rays of animals
- Provide post-operative care and monitor recovery of patients
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the hospital
- Educate pet owners on proper animal care and treatment
Skills:
- X-Ray: Proficiency in taking and developing X-rays for diagnostic purposes
- Dog handling: Ability to handle dogs safely and effectively during examinations, treatments, and procedures
- Pet care: Knowledge of proper pet care practices, including nutrition, grooming, and exercise requirements
- Animal restraint: Skill in safely restraining animals during examinations and procedures
- Animal physiology: Understanding of animal anatomy, physiology, and common medical conditions
- Animal care: Ability to provide compassionate care to animals in a veterinary setting
- Veterinary critical care: Knowledge of emergency veterinary medicine and ability to provide critical care to sick or injured animals
- Aseptic technique: Proficiency in maintaining a sterile environment during surgical procedures
