Clinical Supervisor Part Time Early Psychosis

Program Description

Felton Institutes Early Psychosis award winning program (re)MIND (formerly PREP) was originally developed in partnership with the University of California San Francisco (UCSF). Feltons (re)MIND is an early psychosis coor-dinated specialty care model for early detection and treatment of schizophrenia spectrum disorders. (re)MIND core evidence-based practices include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Psychosis (CBTp), Strength-Based Care Management, Multi-family Group Therapy, Peer Support, Algorithm-Based Medication Management and Indi-vidual Placement and Support (IPS) model of supported education and employment. The (re)MIND model has two additional components, Felton BEAM and BEAM UP, for individuals diagnosed with bipolar or mood disor-ders with psychosis and for individuals at clinical high risk of developing psychosis, respectively. Funded through partnerships with county behavioral health departments, the Felton Early Psychosis Division operates outpatient coordinated specialty care for early psychosis programs in San Francisco, Alameda, San Mateo, Monterey, and Marin, and offers excellent training and workforce development.

Position Overview
The Early Psychosis Clinical Supervisor provides clinical supervision for registered/license eligible (re)MIND staff and clinical support and guidance for staff operating in psychosocial rehabilitation roles across the Early Psycho-sis Divisions multidisciplinary teams. This includes direct supervision of staff collecting hours toward licensure, coordinating and facilitating cross-site supervision of psychosocial rehabilitation staff, supporting quality imple-mentation of IPS fidelity, and coordinating clinical operations of teams as needed. This position reports directly to the Early Psychosis Division Clinical and Training Director.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions)

  • Provide clinical supervision, consultation, training and guidance to program staff and interns.
  • Provide individual and/or group training and supervision to staff accruing clinical experience and hours for professional licensure.
  • Assist staff and program in prioritizing client care and maintaining productivity expectations.
  • Meet all deadlines and comply with agencys requirements.
  • Develop a staff development plan in coordination with Clinical and Training Director manager that addresses training needs, issues related to burnout and self-care, and professional development for Individual staff.
  • Participate actively in all meetings and trainings as assigned.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Masters degree (or higher) in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling Psychology or related field AND current California State Licensure AND meets BBS requirements to provide clinical supervision. Ability to
    meet BOP requirements to provide clinical supervision a plus.
  • Two years of supervisory experience in community mental health programs OR one year of supervisory experience in early psychosis program.
  • Five years of experience providing mental health services to youth or young adults with serious mental health challenges OR two years of direct service experience in early psychosis program.
  • Knowledge of semi structured diagnostic assessments (SCID, SIPS), functional assessments, and proficiency in CBT
  • Personal or family experience of overcoming mental health challenges highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, electronic health records, and ability to type 45 WPM.
  • Bilingual/Bicultural and fluent in Spanish or Asian languages preferred, but not required

  • Demonstrated experience implementing evidence-based practices to fidelity.
  • Demonstrated ability to interact with and respect differences of opinion, beliefs, culture, appearances and ways of life.
  • Knowledge of respective county behavioral health department and community resources.
  • Knowledge of County, State and Federal requirements for documentation and reporting, including Medi- Cal/MediCare standards, CPT codes, etc.
  • Knowledge of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and treatment of co-occurring mental health and substance use disorder preferred.
  • Experience with CBT for Psychosis (CBTp), a plus.
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills.
  • Adaptable, open to change, and able to tolerate ambiguity.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, ability to prioritize tasks, and manage time effectively.
  • Demonstrated experience as a team player with a welcoming attitude.

Physical Requirements, Use of Equipment, and Work Environment
The position requires sitting at a desk approximately 40% of the time, with standing 20% and walking or driving 40% of the time. Ability to perform routine bending, stooping, twisting, and reaching. Lifting may be required occasionally of no more than 20 lbs. at a time. Approximately 40% of the time the employee uses a computer, keyboard, mouse, telephone, mobile phone, fax machine, copier, and video conferencing equipment. The physi-cal demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully per-form the essential functions of this job.
