City College of San Francisco is Hiring a Physical Education Instructor (Temporary, Part-Time Pool) Near San Francisco, CA

Job Duties

1. Instruct one or more of the following Physical Education courses offered by the Department:

* Tennis, Badminton, Pickleball

* Swimming, Water Polo, Water Aerobics

* Basketball, Volleyball, Soccer, Baseball

* Yoga, Stretching,

* Taekwondo, Judo, Jiu Jitsu

* Dance, Feldenkrais

* Strength Training, Physical Fitness, Body Sculpting, Circuit Training, Weight Training, Strength and Interval Training

* Running and Conditioning, Walking and Wellness

* Aerobics, Boxercise, Zumba

* Golf

2. Teach day, evening, and/or Saturday classes at one or more sites as required.

3. Evaluate student performance and progress through in- class observation, practical skills and technique test, and written assignments.

4. Create lesson plans that reflect approved department course outlines.

5. Participate in instructional-related and departmental activities including, but not limited to, curriculum development, selection of appropriate instructional materials, revision of instructional and testing materials as required, development and assessment of student learning outcomes, and keeping required attendance records.

6. Participate in department and college functions, such as staff meetings, committee work, and technical trainings.

7. Supports and engages in an innovative culture of culturally responsive, inclusive and anti-racist practices as it relates to student success with an awareness of student equity gaps.

8. Participates in ongoing training on diversity, equity, inclusion and anti-racism to center pedagogy.

9. Perform other related duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications

1. Demonstrated knowledge, skills, and abilities to work with community college students with disabilities, various sexual orientations, and diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds (Required).

2. Earned Master's Degree in Physical Education, Exercise Science, Education with an emphasis in Physical Education, Kinesiology, Physiology of Exercise, or Adaptive Physical Education from an accredited institution; OR THE EQUIVALENT:

OR

Earned Bachelor's degree in any of the above from an accredited institution AND earned Master's Degree in any Life Science, Dance, Physiology, Health Education, Recreation Administration, or Physical Therapy from an accredited institution; OR THE EQUIVALENT;

OR

Hold a fully-satisfied LIFE California Community College Instructor Credential in Physical education (California credentials were no longer issued after July 1, 1990).

Desirable Qualifications

1. Teaching in a community college, or four-year college level.

2. Practical demonstrative abilities, i.e. showing students physical technique.

3. Ability to relate to a culturally, socially diversified student body.

4. Current knowledge and skills in the appropriate Physical Education course(s).

5. Evidence of successful instructional experience at the university or college level using culturally responsive pedagogy.

6. Demonstrated experience with and knowledge of inequities in higher education and a commitment to rectifying policies and processes that restrict access for historically minoritized and disproportionately impacted students.
