Archdiocese of San Antonio is Hiring a Property Adjuster Near San Antonio, TX

Description

FLSA Status: Full-time, Exempt

Reports To: Risk Director

Summary: Under the direct supervision of the Risk Manager, the Property Adjuster adjusts property claims, within the large deductible, by investigating coverage, assessing the damage, writing a repair estimate, and managing the repair process. For claims that exceed the large deductible, the Property Adjuster liaisons with the insurance carrier’s representative, advocates for coverage, and manages the repair process. The Property Adjuster completes condition and safety inspections of locations and generates reports detailing findings and recommendations. The Property Adjuster also completes scene investigations of liability claims, when requested.

Position Responsibilities:

Claims Management:

  • * Conduct a prompt, thorough and fair investigation by obtaining relevant facts to determine coverage.
  • * Conduct on-site appraisal or directs independent adjusters to determine facts, causation, damages and exposure.
  • * Engages and manages consultants, as required, for claims investigation and damage restoration. Monitors professional fees to ensure they are reasonable and necessary.
  • * Determine scope of damage and write repair estimates based on industry standards.
  • * Establishes and maintains accurate loss reserves 
  • * Provides timely updates to location regarding coverageandscope.* Recommend payments in accordance with the policy and estimates/proposals.
  • * In consultation with the Risk Director, affirms or denies coverage of the claim based on the facts and the policy terms and conditions.
  • * Maintains an accurate claims file including accurate claim data, concise notes, accurate financials, and supporting documentation.
  • * Promptly identify claims that may exceed the deductible and notify appropriate insurers.
  • * Identify and pursue subrogation opportunities
  • * For claims that exceed the deductible: Work with the designated independent adjuster to ensure a fair settlement of the claim, provide any documentation or evidence required by the independent adjuster, liaison between the location and the insurance carrier and advocate on behalf of the location and Archdiocese of San Antonio.

Construction/Restoration Management

  • * Reach agreed scope and price with approved contractors 
  • * Obtain a construction schedule from the approved contractors and ensure compliance.
  • * Provide the location timely updates on repair status, disruptions to operations, or significant delays. 
  • * Liaison between the location and approved contractor to ensure selections are made timely.
  • * Perform periodic quality control inspections during the project and upon completion.

Loss Control

  • * Conduct thorough inspections of locations regarding condition, safety, and security 
  • * Analyze historical loss data to identify loss trends for locations 
  • * Consult with other Risk Office staff to identify areas of exposure or opportunity at locations
  • * Provide a detailed report to location identifying deficiencies and providing remediation recommendations 
  • * Provide on demand consultation services to locations for condition, safety, security and construction/maintenance issues

General

  • Adhering to safety training and protocols on a daily basis, and taking precautionary measure to ensure the safety and well-being of self, others.
  • Responsible for protecting the confidentiality of any information or material obtained in the service with the organization to include but not limited to client names and information, services rendered to clients, donors names and gifts, internal and external investigations or results of any investigations, and financial information.
  • Adherence to the Code of Conduct and the Faith and Moral Policy is mandatory.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications: 

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a business-related field or other relevant degree.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in insurance adjusting with at least 2 years of experience in commercial adjusting and/or high exposure losses. 

License and Credentials:

  • Reliable transportation
  • Valid driver license
  • Valid vehicle insurance
  • Texas Adjuster’s License preferred

Minimum Knowledge and Skills: 

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in claims handling including coverage investigation, cause and origin determination, estimating, and negotiation/settlement; 
  • Extensive working knowledge of loss control skills: building construction principles and methods, building maintenance protocols, safety regulations and security assessment;
  • Ability to observe situations, identify weaknesses, and propose solutions.
  • Experience with general computer software and estimating software (i.e., Xactimate Ultra software preferred); 
  • A solid grasp of time management and workload management;
  • Must be detail oriented, organized, self-motivated, work well independently and on a team;
  • Must have good written and verbal skills;
  • Must have good critical thinking and problem solving skills.

Travel Requirements: Travel requirements for the position includes 75% local and <5% overnight.
