Family Powersports is Hiring an Assistant Controller Near San Angelo, TX

Summary/Objective Established $50 million powersports retail dealership is looking to fill an accountant position. This position will manage the daily, weekly, and monthly accounting functions for five companies (200 employees combined) and report directly to the CFO. Candidates must possess an entrepreneurial spirit, analytical skills, the motivation and experience to maintain, produce, and present timely financial data to the CFO involving cash flows, operations and planning in our growing dealerships. This is a hands-on role that will assist in the preparation of financial reports, maintain and implement an effective system of accounting. The accountant position requires a strong focus on the continued creation, and maintenance, of scalable systems, processes and controls. The accountant should be an experienced team leader with the flexibility to handle an immense workload and demanding schedule. Essential Functions

  • Planning, directing and coordinating accounting functions with the CFO.
  • Drive and manage the month, quarter and year-end close process
  • Manage and review all transactional accounting areas: AR, AP, Payroll, Billing
  • Produce, maintain and present all required financial statements and reports.
  • Maintain and improve financial policies, controls and processes that will position for efficient and effective scaling
  • Evaluate opportunities for process improvement and implementation of best methods and practices
  • Administer and perform Credit/Collections activity with Operations and Accounting staff.
  • Work with major vendors developing win/win strategies on A/P
  • Complete the timely preparation of all tax related issues and filings
  • Prepare regular, and ad-hoc, cash flow reporting, forecasting and analysis
  • Develop a high-performing, best practice driven organization over time through mentorship, coaching and leadership.

Corporate Financial Accountability

  • Be diligent in making sure the company is paid in a timely manner
  • Being forward thinking about reducing corporate expenses
  • Must manage financial aspects with all pertaining clients
  • Being aware of all financial aspect of contractual agreements between the company and clients
  • Being innovative on upholding set budgets and maintaining well below budgets

Travel

Minimal travel is expected for this position.

Required Education and Experience

  • BA/BS Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field - MBA is desirable
  • Senior Staff Accountant, Staff Accountant I, Controller or CPA 3 years plus exp. (related and relevant experience)
  • Experience in a automotive or retail Accounting position
  • Experience in public accounting
  • Previous employment history in a major subcontractor environment.
  • Solid computer skills, including Microsoft Excel
  • Strong experience with building systems, process and controls
  • Experience hiring, training and developing staff and managing employees at all levels within the organization
  • Outstanding oral, and written, communication skills
  • Strong business and financial acumen as well as superior analytical skills
  • Sound technical skills, good judgment and strong operational focus
  • Ability to comprehend complex functions and procedures and disseminate that knowledge in a clear and understandable format to others
