Your Role With Us:

Payment Posting Specialist- Salem Health Professional Billing Department

This position requires using your skills in medical billing, self-direction, critical thinking and attention to detail. The Payment Posting specialist role involves managing and reconciling financial transactions within Epic, including posting and verifying patient and insurance payments. Responsibilities include downloading necessary files, monitoring payer websites for denials, and resolving payment errors. The job requires maintaining accurate records, collaborating with Finance, updating coverage, and creating documentation for workflows. Additionally, the role involves processing returned checks and chargebacks, analyzing EOBs, managing unresolved patient accounts, and performing other assigned duties to ensure financial accuracy and efficiency in the revenue cycle.

Background/Expertise:

Education:

High School Diploma or Equivalent

Experience:

• Three years experience in a medical billing office required.
• Experience with payment posting and reconciliation preferred.
• Familiarity with CARC/RARC codes preferred.
• Familiarity with Coordination of benefits preferred.
• Previous EPIC experience preferred.

Special knowledge, skills, & abilities:

• Typing 40 WPM
• 10-Key 8000 KPH
• Self-directed/limited supervision.
• Moderate computer and math skills and ability to utilize multiple computer programs as required.
• Must have the ability and desire to work in a very busy, multidisciplinary setting.
• Demonstrates exceptional customer relations by promptly answering phone calls and emails concerning patient questions.
• Demonstrates effective interpersonal skills which promote cooperation and teamwork.
• Must demonstrate critical thinking skills.
• Accuracy/attention to detail.
• Ability to handle payments in accordance with detailed instructions.
• Proficient in examining documents for accuracy and completeness.
• Moderate knowledge of Revenue Cycle.
