The incumbent is part of a global public health organization and is expected to support the Florida Department of Health in Pinellas County in its mission to protect, promote and improve the health of all people in Florida through integrated state, county and community efforts and its efforts and its vision To be the Healthiest State in the Nation. Computer Programmer

Your Specific Responsibilities:

Responsible for the departments support for Intranet and Internet websites. Designs attractive and user-friendly web pages for the Intranet and Internet websites. Updates the Internet website using State maintained Content Management System. Keeps information current in the SharePoint Intranet website. Provides agency support to the Department’s Microsoft Office 365 suite which includes support to services such as Bookings, Forms, Power Automate, Power Apps, Access, Excel, Word. Provides support for the Departments Survey Monkey services.

Prepares various forms of documentation including, but not limited to, data dictionaries with field descriptions, data flow diagrams, report and screen layouts, user instructional manuals, operation manuals, and internal program and procedure documentation. Keeps up to date the IT Help Desk Requests.

Preferred skills include knowledge of modifications and updates database tables, views, and stored procedures. Create, modifies, and updates reports based on databases using advanced database reporting tool. Assumes Information Custodian responsibilities for Access Databases under their jurisdiction. Supports any current Access databases and assists in their conversion to SQL.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of basic terminology, concepts and techniques of data processing and computer programming.
  • Skilled in writing code in SharePoint, HTML, CSS, SQL.
  • Skilled in using Adobe Creative Suite(Acrobat, Dreamweaver, Photoshop)
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office; Excel, Access, Bookings, Forms, Power Automate, Power Apps among other Microsoft 365 products.
  • Skilled in website design and maintenance and report generation using Crystal Reports and other reporting applications.
  • Ability to think logically and to analyze and solve problems.
  • Ability to write, code, test and debug computer programs.
  • Ability to plan, organize, prioritize, and coordinate work assignments to fulfill customer needs and meet project deadlines and goals.
  • Ability to communicate technical data information effectively and ability to work well on a team and independently.
  • Ability to acquire new programming techniques and apply those techniques.
  • Interpersonal skills to provide good customer service.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and one year of experience in computer systems analysis and/or computer programming; or
  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in one of the computer sciences or in management information systems; or
  • Completion of a 720 classroom hour program of study from a vocational/technical school or accredited community college in an area of data processing (excluding data entry), or 60 semester or 90 quarter hours of college course work from an accredited institution which includes four courses in computer science or management information systems; or
  • A high school diploma or its equivalent and two years of experience as described above.
  • Completion of a one-year program of study from a vocational/technical school in an area of data processing (excluding data entry) can substitute for one year of the required experience.
