Position Type: High School Science Teacher-Full Time
Effective: 2024-25 School Year
Salary: Commensurate with experience and education
Certifications Required: 9-12 Science Biology preferred

The Purpose and Ministry of the Teacher
The faculty of Lutheran High School shall be spiritual, educational, and professional leaders of the school, their respective churches and the community, They shall reflect and commit the school's purpose and overall ministry and well-being of Lutheran High School. Teachers shall be members in good standing in their church.
Accountability
Each teacher is accountable to the Principal of Lutheran High School for the performance of his/her responsibilities as outlined, Annual performance goals will be established.
Terms of Service
Each teacher is either called (if eligible] or contracted per school year, It is assumed that, given a positive performance review, employment will be ongoing, Salary and benefits are established by the current compensation model as outlined in the current Personnel Handbook and chosen by the employee, This position may be either full or part time.

Qualifications
  • Hold a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution in Education or a related content area and provide a transcript of credits to be considered for a position on the faculty.
  • Hold or be willing to obtain appropriate certification from the State of Missouri within two years.
  • Preferred: Teachers who are synodic ally trained through The Lutheran Church
  • -Missouri Synod (LCMS).
Position Summary
  • Serve as a role model both in and out of school to students and as an example to parents, fellow faculty and staff and to the community-at-large in judgment, respect and Christian living.
  • Maintain a personal appearance that is a role model of cleanliness, modesty, and good taste and in agreement with school policy.
  • Develop and maintain rapport with students, parents, staff and others by treating others with friendliness, dignity and consideration.
  • Maintain an attitude of collegiality by seeking the counsel oft he administration, colleagues & parents.
  • Demonstrate enthusiasm, courtesy, flexibility, integrity; gratitude, kindness, self-control perseverance and punctuality.
  • Integrate Biblical principles throughout the curriculum.
  • Teach faithfully the Word of God as understood and taught by the LCMS
  • Emphasize to students the reality of their self-worth in Christ.
  • Respect the intrinsic value of each child through attention to his/her academic, physical, social, spiritual and developmental needs.
  • Maintain a comprehensive know ledge of each student's progress by assessing students on a regular basis, by keeping regular and accurate attendance and grade records, by providing required progress reports, and by informing students, parents, the school counselor and administration of serious deficiencies and failure with sufficient notice.
  • Respectfully submit and be loyal to constituted authority.
  • Cooperate with the Principal in implementing all policies, procedures and directives governing the operation of the school.
  • Teach classes as assigned, following prescribed scope and sequence as scheduled by the Principal.
  • Follow the school-approved discipline policies and procedures.
  • Follow the spirit of Matthew 5 and 18 to resolve differences with others.
  • Practice appropriate corporate prayer with the students.
  • By state law, any teacher having reason to suspect a child has been abused is to report such to the Missouri Department of Social Services office and then communicates that report to the Principal.
  • Plan courses broadly through the use of a course syllabus and daily lesson plans.
  • Demonstrate mastery of all subject material.
  • Use a variety of instructional aids, methods and materials that will provide for creative teaching to reach each child in the classroom.
  • Integrate the use of technology appropriately in the classroom.
  • Provide a copy of lesson plans and seating charts in the case of absence.
  • Maintain a clean, attractive and orderly classroom.
  • Attend devotions, in-services, conferences, retreats and faculty meetings.
  • Refuse to use or circulate confidential information inappropriately.
  • Supervise extra duties as assigned.
