Minnesota Judicial Branch is Hiring a Social Media Specialist Near Saint Paul, MN

Description

The Social Media Specialist position at the Minnesota Judicial Branch will serve as a strategic partner in assisting the Branch in rebranding its social media channels. The position will advise on the best ways to engage and educate the public about civics and the role of the judiciary; collaborate on the formation of an overall social media strategy; and create compelling content, including videos, that furthers the Branch’s mission. 

Job Duties

The following are examples of major job duties expected for this position to perform.

  • Manage the Branch’s social media channels, including daily content creation, post scheduling, and responses to inbound comments and questions.
  • Maintain the Branch’s social media calendar.
  • Suggest social media strategies that educate and inform the public and promote trust and confidence in the Minnesota Judicial Branch.
  • Engage in social media listening and monitor channels for unfavorable content or posts.
  • Prepare regular social media reports for the Director of Public Affairs and other Branch leadership.
  • Shoot, edit, and produce professional-quality video products, create podcasts, and devise public service announcements that support the work of the Minnesota Judicial Branch.

Minimum Requirements

  • Possession of a bachelor’s degree with coursework in social media/digital marketing, public relations journalism, communications, English, or related field with 1 year of experience in social media management, strategy, and digital analytics, OR 
  • Possession of an associate degree with coursework in social media/digital marketing, public relations journalism, communications, English, or related field with 3 years of experience in social media management, strategy, and digital analytics, OR 
  • 5 years of experience in social media management, strategy, and digital analytics

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proven experience (5 years) in digital marketing with a focus on strategy development and execution.
  • Podcast production experience
  • Proficiency with graphic design software (e.g., Illustrator, Photoshop, etc.)

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities 

  • Proficiency with digital marketing software and social media platforms including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter/X, TikTok, SnapChat, WhatsApp, YouTube, LinkedIn, Google Analytics, SEO tools, social media management tools, and email marketing platforms.
  • Highly developed creative abilities and first-rate writing, storytelling and interview skills. Writing experience should include social media posts, news releases, video scripts, public service announcements for radio and television, and/or scripts for informational and educational productions.
  • Highly skilled videography and video editing skills, with experience producing professional-quality video products.
  • In-depth experience with non-linear video editing software, audio software, and animated graphics software (e.g., the Adobe Creative Suite). 
  • Strong analytical skills and experience with social media analytics and reporting tools/applications.
  • Self-motivated and comfortable working independently as well as with a larger team.
  • Ability to multi-task and balance responsibilities, including shifting priorities to meet the changing day-to-day demands the position.

Salary

The expected starting salary range for external candidates is $29.74 - $37.90 per hour ($62,097 - $79,135 annually). The full salary range for this position is $29.74 - $46.05 per hour ($62,097 - $96,152 annually). This position is exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act and is eligible for State of MN employee benefits.

Position Logistics

This full-time position is classified as Communications Specialist. The position will work normal business hours, Monday through Friday. This work will be conducted in a hybrid/remote environment. In-person work will be performed at the Minnesota Judicial Center in St. Paul, Minnesota as business need dictates. Occasional in-state travel will be required.
