Title: Career Pathways Coordinator

Level: Adolescent (7-12)

Classification: 0.5 FTE, exempt, commensurate with experience

Licensure or Certification: Preferred valid MN School Counselor License

Reports to: Adolescent Program Director

School Year: 2024-2025, starting August of 2024 with some work over the summer months

Great River School is a public Montessori school servicing students in grades 1st through 12th grades with the International Baccalaureate program in 11th & 12th grades. General Job Description:

The Career Pathways Coordinator is responsible for significantly expanding community partners and employers within the 5 sector areas, securing and managing student access to industry-related, organizing industry-related field trips and career-exposure events/courses, and planning for sustainability of the program. This position has tasks to complete over the summer amounting to approximately 40 hours worth.

Essential Responsibilities Include:

Below responsibilities should remain centered on the 5 YST Sector Areas: Manufacturing, Automotive, IT, Agriculture, and Healthcare

  • Organize at least 5 career exposure events for students (ex. field trips, guest speakers, etc), including at least one onsite career fair.
  • Expand off-site student internships opportunities to 50 total placements (we currently have 45 placements).
  • Collaborate with CAS coordinators to:
  • Add at least 3 CAS rotation options at the 7-10th grade level centered in industry exposure within at least one of the 5 sector areas
  • Add at least 1 CAS course option at the 10-12th grade level centered in students learning and earning an industry-recognized credential or certification
  • Secure partners within the 5 sectors willing to hire high-school students for internships or summer work; work towards at least 20 students
  • Secure certification programs to ensure industry-recognized certifications are earned by 20 students over the next two years.
  • Work with Instructors of Industry-related GRS courses to connect them to industry professionals and resources
  • Collaborate with Director of Development and Business Coordinator to ensure completion and submission of quarterly reports and compliance of grant requirements
  • Collaborate with the Adolescent Program Director and Director of College Accessibility on implementing career exploration activities with 7-10th grade students.
  • Collaborate with the Director of College Accessibility on counseling with students about their Post Secondary plans.

Professional Development Responsibilities:

  • Strives to maintain and improve professional competence through professional development activities.
  • Works toward continuous learning in Anti-bias, Anti-racist teaching and learning, culturally relevant pedagogy, and standards-based grading.
  • Participate in appropriate Montessori training, as needed. May involve travel.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Head of School or Supervisor

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field
  • Experience working with high school students
  • Understanding of Anti-Racist and Anti Biased knowledge, practices, and competencies
  • Must pass a background check

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Valid Minnesota School Counselor License
  • Montessori experience
