Marketing Manager

Location: Shreveport

Position Summary:
The Marketing Manager is responsible for developing and implementing the comprehensive sales strategy for our hotel, focusing on securing new accounts, nurturing existing ones, overseeing sales personnel, and executing effective marketing strategies. The goal is to maximize hotel profitability while ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction.

Essential Functions:

  • Proactively solicit business across various market segments through tele-prospecting and outside sales calls.
  • Maintain and grow relationships with existing clients to foster ongoing business opportunities.
  • Develop and sustain relationships with key clients to drive group business, including room sales, F&B sales, and catering/banquet services.

Community and Networking:

  • Attend networking events and cultivate relationships with local community groups, companies, and trade organizations.
  • Represent the hotel at local and out-of-town meetings and conventions to generate sales leads.

Client Engagement:

  • Conduct site tours to prospective clients.
  • Maintain an up-to-date customer database using Hotel Sales Pro.
  • Develop and manage client contracts, ensuring thorough follow-up and engagement.

Team Leadership:

  • (If applicable) Lead the hotel sales team, providing the necessary leadership and motivation to implement effective sales and marketing strategies.
  • Manage the departmental budget and monitor sales activities to ensure they meet or exceed profit plans.
  • Regularly report variances and projections to management.

Strategic Planning:

  • Co-develop hotel-level tactical sales plans to support system-wide strategies.
  • Assist the General Manager in updating the hotel-level business plan, including input on sales goals and strategies.
  • Serve as the media interface for the hotel in coordination with the General Manager and public relations director.

Sales and Revenue Management:

  • Work on files for past and potential groups to generate repeat business.
  • Attend sales/revenue and hotel staff meetings to ensure good communication and coordination.
  • Generate reports to measure business generated by the sales department.

Guest Experience:

  • Take every opportunity to amaze guests and ensure they are treated courteously and efficiently.
  • Ensure all company standards are applied consistently.

Administrative Duties:

  • Hire, train, and direct new sales administrative associates.
  • Participate in the Manager on Duty program.
  • Coordinate with accounting to manage account receivables and minimize outstanding balances.
  • Work with other hotel departments to improve communication and guest satisfaction.

Revenue Optimization:

  • Coordinate with the Rooms Division to manage room inventory status for optimal revenue.
  • Develop promotional programs and sales initiatives.
  • Report regularly to the General Manager on room numbers against budget and profit projections.
  • Analyze variances and monitor the impact of sales initiatives, implementing corrective actions as necessary.

Qualifications:

  • Proven hotel experience with a strong background in sales and marketing.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate a team.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills.
  • Proficiency in using hotel sales software
