Education And Experience
- 3 years of experience usually gained through training and/or experience in the transportation, warehouse, distribution, or related fields.
- Must have general knowledge of geography and basic map-reading skills.
- Experience in developing strong relationships (personal/practical needs) to effectively manage, plan, and prioritize workload.
- Strong planning and problem-solving skills; able to identify and resolve problems promptly.
- Must be a team player, amenable to a variety of work projects.
- Must be proficient in responding to internal and external customer situations, responding to customer needs as required.
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage and prioritize workload in a fast-paced environment.
- Must be able to demonstrate a proactive commitment to ATS corporate values and the success of all staff.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook) required.
- Excellent communication skills (written, listening, and verbal).
- Willing and able to travel infrequently, including overnight travel.
- Assists in the creation of daily work plans for the driver(s) and yard crew based on workload and requirements by company and department quality, utilization, and profit objectives.
- Determine load assignments by matching the needs, qualifications, and availability of customers, drivers, and equipment.
- Communicate the load requirements to the crew as needed for preparations.
- Track equipment to ensure the maximum utilization of equipment, coordinating idle trailers, and equipment in/out of service.
- Communicate expectations to the yard crew to ensure that loads are received and dispatched promptly.
- Answer questions, and investigate and resolve all problems arising during pick-up, transit, and/or delivery of loads.
- Coordinate outgoing and incoming shipment documentation accurately, and in detail, following all U.S. Foreign Trade regulations, and ensure proper record keeping.
- Collect and verify all transportation documentation for all shipping is complete.
- Answers incoming telephone calls, providing prompt and courteous customer service.
- Maintain cargo and trailer inventory by tracking shipments to allow for the maximum usage of equipment available.
- Perform physical inventory counts regularly.
- Understands and consistently performs in accordance with ATS Mission, Vision, and Values.
- Support ATS’ culture by aligning actions, behaviors, performance, and decisions in accordance with the Company’s values as set forth in our All-Employee Competencies.
- Complete work responsibilities outside of normal business hours as needed and infrequent travel may be required.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
This position performs work primarily in an office setting.
- Constantly in a stationary position and occasionally will move around.
- Constantly operates a keyboard and mouse and constantly utilizes a computer monitor(s).
- Constantly conversing with internal and external customers in person or via phone system.
