Education / Experience Required :
EMT-B, EMT-P, CMA or CNA, AND 2-3 years of healthcare related experience preferred or pre-hospital patient care experience or *completion of 1-2 years of nursing school clinical rotations or *acceptance at an accredited medical school AND 2 - 3 years of healthcare related experience preferred or Medical Assistant certification AND 2 - 3 years healthcare related experience preferred.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required :
Major Responsibilities :
Conducts appropriate pain assessment and obtains pulse oximeter readings. Assists physician with exam as needed.
Informs physicians or RN of abnormal or panic values.
Accurately performs breath alcohol testing, and completes BAT documentation according to regulations and departmental guidelines.
Performs audiometry, spirometry, EKG, vision and other tests as specified by company agreement.
Logs physicals and drug screens. Tracks drug screen results and communicates results to companies.
Identifies potential and actual problems which put people at risk for injury.
Labels as malfunctioning and reports malfunctioning equipment.
Displays pleasant personality and positively contributes to department morale.
Assists in keeping environment neet and orderly.
Participates in opportunities to grow and develop in position and improve the department.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions :
Possible exposure to infectious waste and disease ?Ability and willingness to work on all shifts, weekends, and holidays in patient care areas ?
Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time (stand and / or walk 80% of the time; sit 20% of the time, depending on assignment) ?
Ability to kneel and bend ?Ability to assist in evacuation of patients in the event of fire or other disaster
If position has direct patient care or direct patient contact the following lifting requirement supersedes any previous lifting requirement effective 06 / 01 / 2015.
Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance. For patient lifts of over 35 pounds, or when patient is unable to assist with the lift, patient handling equipment is expected to be used, with at least one other associate, when available.
Unique patient lifting / movement situations will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.
