Position Description:
The Roosevelt Board of Education is accepting applications for the position of Superintendent of Schools. The vacancy exists as a result of the retirement of Dr. Deborah L. Wortham. The Roosevelt School District is seeking a dynamic and visionary leader to serve as Superintendent of Schools. The ideal candidate will be committed to upholding the district’s esteemed reputation for excellence, prioritizing the well-being and success of every student, and fostering a supportive environment for all stakeholders.

Qualifications:
The Roosevelt Union Free School District Seeks a Superintendent Who:

• Has classroom experience in a K-12 setting with hands-on experience leading curriculum and instruction in schools as well as knowledge of emerging research in the areas of teaching and learning, instructional design and CTE programs.
• Has experience with effective management and planning practices that will benefit the long-term financial health of the district.
• Is a decision maker and powerful communicator in speaking, listening, and writing.
• Possesses excellent interpersonal skills, leadership knowledge, and the sensitivity required to create a professional environment with trust and respect among faculty, staff, administrators, and Board.
• Promotes a positive image of the district and has the sensitivity required to respond to the opportunities and challenges presented by a diverse student body and community.
• Has a strong moral compass that is rooted in justice and equality.
• Is intensely committed to a “student centered” philosophy in all diversity, equity, and inclusion principles.
• Promotes positive student behavior conducive to a healthy and safe learning environment.
• Possesses the ability to enhance student performance, especially in identifying and closing or narrowing the gaps in student achievement and opportunity

Residency is not required, however, regular engagement and a strong presence in the school community is expected.

Salary Range:
$250,000 - $265,000 plus a comprehensive benefits package
