Job Details

Responsibilities of the Cook include:

  • Ability to complete multiple different tasks of high quality at the same time
  • Ability to follow recipes and produce food of high quality under the guidelines that have been set forth by his/her supervisor/executive chef
  • Effectively manages time in a manner that allows him/her the appropriate time to effectively complete the tasks that are on hand
  • Creates and presents food of high quality in accordance with the guidelines set forth by the executive chef
  • Willingly accepts, and takes on added responsibilities that may not be included as part of the normal work schedule or indicated by his/her supervisor/executive chef
  • Takes responsibility and accountability for the actions that are caused by his/her work that directly relate to the performance of the department
  • The ability to effectively work in all phases of food service in the food and nutrition department as set forth by the executive chef
  • Complies with the uniform policy as set forth by Mercy Hospital
  • Arrives to work on time and ready to start as the scheduled time indicates, while conforming to the attendance policy set forth by human resources
  • Works in a clean, safe environment while following HAACP guidelines involving the handling of food products and personal hygiene
  • Treats co-workers, patients and guests with courtesy and respect
  • Makes recommendations to the executive chef/supervisor on ways to improve quality and/or work performance

​​Requirements for the Cook role include:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required. Culinary degree preferred
  • 5 years' experience as a cook in a large volume quality food service operation or 3 years' experience along with graduation from a certified culinary school
  • Serve Safe Certificate preferred.
Salary Range
USD $27.86 - USD $27.86 /Hr.

The salary range or rate listed does not include any differential pay or other forms of compensation that may be applicable to this job and it does not include the value of benefits.
