Home Office Careers is Hiring a System Administrator Near Rock Island, IL

As a Platform Engineer/System Administrator at Modern Woodmen, you would be responsible for maintaining our platforms and creating tools to be used by our Software Development team. This would include actively participating in the daily operational activities and support of the IT Department, which includes providing proactive maintenance and performing independent complex troubleshooting.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with various teams across IT with the goal of gathering feedback and use that feedback to improve operational effectiveness by utilizing a wide range of technologies.
  • Support and maintenance of application security and their supporting platforms.
  • Support and maintenance of application release pipelines.
  • Management of application configuration (including permissions and secrets).
  • Creation and maintenance of miscellaneous Azure policies.
  • Handling of platform related help desk tickets.
  • Full support and maintenance of developer third party tools and integrations.
  • Configuration and maintenance of application monitoring software and its reporting.
  • Monitor platform system health and make recommendations to the appropriate parties.
  • Identify recurring issues and work with involved individuals to develop permanent solutions.
  • Assist with the maintenance of supporting software documentation library.

What we need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering or a combination of education and experience.
  • 2 years of experience related to job title.
  • Self-starter with excellent listening and interpersonal skills.
  • Extremely detail orientated for all responsibilities.
  • Display work behaviors of high integrity and honesty.
  • Able to take direction and follow established processes and procedures.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrate a high level of problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Working knowledge of the following technologies preferred.
    • Developing and evangelizing best practices and golden paths
    • Developing and deploying resources with Azure
    • Platform Automation
    • Building developer tools such as CI/CD pipelines and CLI tools
    • Scripting languages, such as PowerShell.
    • Experience with supporting and maintaining MSMQ, IIS, and web applications.
    • Experience with supporting and maintaining enterprise level platforms.

      • Windows Server
      • Azure DevOps

    What we offer:

    • Pay: The annual or hourly pay for this position is $34.50. The specific rate will depend on the successful candidate’s qualifications and prior experience.
    • Work Arrangements: This is a full-time hybrid position: 37.5 hours per week (7.5 hours per day), Monday- Friday, with flexible start time between 7:00AM-9:00AM. Hybrid positions work at least 3 days in office and the remaining days each week working from home. Employees beginning to work in a new hybrid role will be asked to work on-site (5 days a week) during the initial training period which may be up to 1 year.
