TICO is Hiring a Material Handler Near Ridgeland, SC

TICO is an equipment logistics solutions company that has been in business since 1946. It has been a cornerstone to the port of Savannah and other ports throughout the United States. TICO owns and operates over 1500 Jockey Trucks & Terminal Tractors. TICO also manufactures Jockey Trucks and trailers in our plant in SC. We have an immediate opening for a Material Handler for our Ridgeland, SC production location.
Job SpecificationKnowledge of production, receiving, warehouse, materials handling operations, parts inventory operations is required. Knowledge of administrative clerical procedures and systems such as managing files and records, and other office procedures is also necessary. Must have good knowledge of part's and part usage in the production process, and understand their applications for use. Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
Receive, organize, and issue production materials/ parts in plant facility. Organize and prepare manufactured items for shipment to other locations. Arrange in-plant transfer of materials to meet production schedules. Manually, or by forklift move materials and supplies to designated places in the facility or onto trucks/trailers. Maintain orderly storage and accurate records of current inventory.
Material Handler essential duties and responsibilities:
  • Review documents such as production schedules and work orders to determine materials requirements and priorities.
  • Requisition and maintain inventories of materials and supplies necessary to meet production demands. Confirm accuracy of all receiving slips for materials received.
  • Issue parts and equipment to production site per work orders.
  • Convey materials to or from storage or work sites to designated area using hand truck, forklift, wheelbarrow, or other device.
  • Count and weigh and record number of units of materials moved or handled on daily production sheet.
  • Receive new parts and equipment into inventory utilizing forklift truck. Open containers, using steel cutters, crowbar, claw hammer, or other hand tools.
  • Mark and store parts and equipment in stockroom according to prearranged system.
  • Load and unload materials onto or from pallets, trays, racks, and shelves by hand.
  • Take/Prepare inventory of stock.
  • Prepare parts and equipment for [ shipment ] transfer to production locations to meet production schedules.
  • Load materials for transport to other locations onto vehicles, and install strapping, bracing, or padding to prevent shifting or damage in transit, using hand tools.
  • Confer with managers, vendors, and customers to coordinate production and shipping activities, and to resolve complaints or eliminate delays.
  • Record production data, including volume produced, consumption of raw materials, and quality control measures.
  • Participate in quarterly physical inventory of parts and equipment.
  • Comply with Company/agency policy/regulations and practices. Maintain a clean and safe work environment. Wear all required personal protection equipment during the performance of job duties.
  • Other duties may be assigned.
