Job Title: Middle/ High School P.E. Teacher
Reports To: Principal
FLSA Status: Certified
POSITION SUMMARY
This position is responsible is responsible for planning and implementing physical education activities. This position shall set an example of an exceptional professional educator and be ever mindful that both coach and player represent the Madison County School District and are expected to conduct themselves in an exemplary manner. This position shall be responsible for administering a successful and competitive program, that includes the development of self-discipline, character, teamwork, leadership, sportsmanship, citizenship, responsibility, academic excellence, and the molding of the leaders of tomorrow's society. The primary duties of the person holding this position will be to encourage student participation and manage the successful day-to-day operations.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • A Bachelor's Degree in Education
  • A valid Mississippi teaching certificate
  • Strong communication, both oral and in written, skills are required
  • Strong interpersonal skills are required to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, students, parents, and members of the community
  • Thorough knowledge of the principles and methodology of effective teaching
  • Thorough knowledge of the fundamentals of the game of football and track.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Demonstrates motivation and enthusiasm with a genuine passion for teaching young learners
  • Demonstrates the ability to create a child-centered classroom
  • Facilitates children's physical, cognitive and social and emotional learning through lessons designed to sequentially develop skills appropriate to their ability and confidence levels
  • Provides engaging, fun, and effective instruction that helps build a health and wellness foundation for young children
  • Teaches knowledge and skills in physical fitness, health education, rhythms and dance utilizing curriculum and other appropriate learning activities
  • Provides maximum participation for all students; differentiates as needed to ensure all students experience success
  • Analyzes, demonstrates, and explains basic skills, knowledge and strategies of games, rhythms, and fundamentals of body movement
  • Develops engaging and effective lesson plans
  • Provides ongoing formative feedback to students
  • Demonstrates a growth mindset individually and supports this development with all students
