The impact you will have: This is an exciting position for the selected EHS candidate to join QTS Data Centers during a period of unprecedented growth leading to an exceptional professional development opportunity. QTS is seeking an EHS professional with experience in occupational, environmental, health, and safety. Must be capable and willing to be hands-on with supporting the continued development of QTS’ environmental, health, and safety (EHS) programs. Under the direction of QTS’ EHS Director, the EHS Specialist will help drive improvement for EHS programs, processes, and procedures across all QTS Data Center facilities. What you will do: Provide environmental, health, and safety support to data center management to ensure compliance with federal, state and local regulations Instruct and mentor employees on suitable health and safety practices Conduct routine facility inspections and assessments to recognize, identify, and mitigate potential EHS concerns and hazards Identify and propose corrective actions and solutions for EHS hazards and risks identified during assessments Support and oversee the preparation and submission of appropriate regulatory documents Provide oversight of data center environmental permits to support compliance with all permit application and reporting to meet regulatory requirements Lead investigations of incidents and near misses to identify root causes and help management develop corrective actions Monitor potential exposures to certain chemical and/or physical hazards to determine the need for, and establishment of suitable controls Support written EHS program development and updates Promote a culture of awareness and empowerment for driving sound safety performance Attend seminars/workshops for further educational development What you need to be successful: Bachelor of Science degree or equivalent professional experience Five or more years of direct EHS related experience Working knowledge and experience in general industry health and safety processes, procedures, and requirements Working knowledge and experience with general industry OSHA requirements, NFPA (NEC), EPA, ISO standards Working knowledge of OSHA recordkeeping and reporting 25-50% travel required The perks (and only a few): Medical, dental, vision and all the other standard benefits Paid volunteer days Tuition assistance, parental leave and military leave assistance QTS scholarship for dependents “Data centers are experiencing once-in-a-generation demand growth, driven by cloud adoption and the AI revolution,” Jon Gray, President & COO of Blackstone. BASIC QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor of Science degree or equivalent professional experience Five or more years of direct EHS related experience Working knowledge and experience in general industry health and safety processes, procedures, and requirements Working knowledge and experience with general industry OSHA requirements, NFPA (NEC), EPA, ISO standards Working knowledge of OSHA recordkeeping and reporting 25-50% travel required PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS OSHA 30 and DOT HazMat certifications Prior experience working in a data center environment KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES Strong communication and written skills Able to work effectively in a team environment.
