Job Summary: RS21 is on the lookout for a skilled and experienced Linux System Administrator to be embedded with our federal partner in a classified environment. In this pivotal role, you will ensure the optimal performance and security of Red Hat Linux based systems, supporting mission-critical operations. This position demands close collaboration with program developers and system engineers to address system issues effectively. The successful candidate will be integral in implementing solutions and conducting system maintenance, utilizing Agile methodologies. This is a full-time, on-site position in Richardson, TX.

Key Responsibilities:

• Administer Red Hat Linux-based systems including patching, creating RPM packages, performance tuning, networking, and user management through LDAP.
• Conduct hardware and software troubleshooting.
• Develop automation and maintenance scripts using Bash and Python.
• Install, manage, and troubleshoot VMware environments, including ESXi and vCenter.
• Provide after-hour maintenance and on-call support as required.

Qualifications:

• Active and transferable U.S. government-issued TS/SCI with poly security clearance required prior to start date.
• U.S. citizenship, as clearance eligibility is restricted to U.S. citizens.
• Active DoD 8570 IAT Level 2 certification (e.g., Security CE, CCNA Security, GICSP) must be held at the start date.
• Capability to lift up to 35 pounds for hardware installations.
• Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience.

Nice to Have:

• Experience in administering Windows-based systems.
• Expertise in enterprise-level administration of services such as DNS, sendmail, and LDAP.
• Strong analytical and research skills with a detail-oriented approach.
• Demonstrated independence in problem-solving and troubleshooting.
• Ability to interact effectively with external personnel on significant technical matters, often requiring coordination between organizations and vendors.
