Full Job Description

James Kodama DDS, a general dental practice, provides a positive, enthusiastic, friendly, and safe working environment for the individual who enjoys working with people, is reliable, a team player, professional, willing to learn and can follow instructions. Duties include, but are not limited to: greeting and seating patients, taking x-rays, assisting at chair-side, and setting up and cleaning operatories. We have been providing honest, ethical, high-quality dental care in the West San Fernando community for over 30 years and will supply training in all aspects of the job.

We follow all ADA and CDA recommendations for the safety of our staff and patients. Full PPE is provided and required to wear. Strict adherence to infection control is expected. Our office utilizes HEPA filters with UVC lights.

Responsibilities

• Welcome patients and situate them in the operatory
• Provide chair-side assistance to the doctor
• Set up and prepare operatories
• Take x-rays and perform lab jobs, e.g. take impressions
• Use computers to update patient records
• Clean instruments, operatories, and office
• Maintain equipment, supplies and inventory
• Professional appearance is expected

Schedule

• M through Th - 8-hour shift; Fri - 6-hour shift
• No Weekends

Qualifications/Experience

• Education: High school or equivalent (Required)
• Experience: Dental assistant: 1 year (Preferred)
• X-ray License (Required)
• CPR (Highly preferred)
• RDA or DA (Preferred)
• Bilingual (Spanish Preferred)

Skills

• Proven experience as dental assistant
• Knowledge of dental instruments and sterilization methods
• Understanding of health & safety regulations
• Ability to perform regulated non-surgical tasks, like coronal polishing, is a plus
• Good computer skills
• Excellent communication and people skills
• Attention to detail
• Well-organized and reliable
• High school diploma required; graduation from dental assistant school is preferred
• Additional certification or training is an asset (e.g. EFDA)

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $20.00 - $26.00 per hour

Expected hours: 16 – 40 per week
