The Rapid City Journal, South Dakota’s largest newspaper, is looking for a full-time public safety reporter eager to break news as well as deliver important watchdog journalism to our readers.
Covering the beat requires the ability to quickly file breaking news stories while juggling long-term investigative, enterprise and crime and court stories.
We want a candidate who can ask tough questions, investigate trends and find fresh angles to pursue.
We have a vibrant and hardworking newsroom, which makes it a great environment for a new reporter to develop their skills and grow as a reporter and writer.
We work hard and have fun.
A bachelor’s degree in journalism or a related field is required. We will consider strong recent graduates with reporting experience.
Social media and video experience is a plus.
