Job Summary

This position is responsible for developing and deploying strategies, campaigns, programs, and communications that focus on advancing the school’s brand, presence and reputation in the community. This position will work closely with our Admissions, Advancement, Communications and Event Planning Departments to publicize their initiatives, all of which will have a direct impact on school enrollment, fundraising and community-building goals. Includes a high level of interaction with our Parent Teacher Organization (PTO).

It is a condition of employment that all employees conduct themselves in a manner that is compatible with and supportive of the teachings and mission of the Roman Catholic Church and the Diocese of Orange, including being respectful of the faith expressions of Catholicism.

St. Junipero Serra Catholic School is a leading Diocesan Catholic Parish Elementary School located in South Orange County. Founded in 1995, we are motivated by the teaching of Saint Junipero Serra and the persevering spirit of our founding families. Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Create strategic marketing campaigns that align with and support our brand.
  • Manage the school’s website to include creating/updating content and ensuring the site is informative and user friendly.
  • Use graphic design software to create flyers, logos, posters and social media posts to promote school events. Create communication/marketing templates that support the overall theme of the initiative or event.
  • Manage the school’s social media presence to include proactively seeking and publishing meaningful and engaging content on a daily basis. Photograph and/or record school events and publish on social media, as appropriate.
  • Work with vendors to plan, create and edit videos for use at fundraising or admissions-related events.
  • Assist the Community Events Coordinator, Advancement Director, Admissions Director and PTO in organizing and deploying all aspects of school events to include fundraising events, community-building events and events focused on increasing admissions.
  • Oversee the creation and printing of written marketing and informational materials including admissions materials and annual reports. Oversee the creation of communications for prospective and existing families regarding the benefits of attending St. Serra as well as information regarding programs and services offered by the school.
  • Actively monitor the effectiveness of marketing programs and make enhancements as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Adhere to the policies and procedures of the Diocesan Employee Handbook.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Communications or relevant field required.
  • 3 years of experience in marketing or communications role necessary. Experience in the field of education helpful, preferably in a Catholic school or other private school setting.
  • Proficiency with social media platforms.
  • Photography and video creation/editing experience helpful.
  • Event planning and fundraising experience helpful.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, verbal communication and written communication skills with a history of working collaboratively with others.
  • Strong computer skills including a proficiency in Microsoft 365, MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Google Mail/Calendar/Docs.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Time management skills and the ability to multi-task under pressure.
  • Work with minimal supervision and direction while still being a part of a team.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality. High degree of discretion with regards to confidential matters.
  • Demonstrate a customer-focused approach.

Position Status

  • Position is a salaried/exempt, benefit-eligible position. The school is open to this being an 11-month or 12-month per year position, based on the preference of the candidate.
  • Must be available to attend events in the evenings and weekends, as needed. Events are intermittent fundraising events and admissions-related events.
  • Will be required to assist with morning or afternoon traffic duties each day.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $75,000.00 - $82,000.00 per year
