Summary : A Medical Assistant (MA) is a crucial member of the healthcare team, responsible for performing a variety of administrative and clinical tasks to support the smooth operation of a medical office, clinic, or other healthcare settings.

Responsibilities :

Administrative Tasks :

  • Greet and assist patients as they arrive at the healthcare facility.
  • Schedule appointments and maintain the appointment calendar.
  • Answer phone calls, take messages, and respond to inquiries.

Patie nt Registration and Record Keeping :

  • Collect and update patient information, including medical history and insurance details.
  • Ensure accurate and complete patient records.

Billing and Coding :

  • Assist with insurance billing and coding procedures.
  • Process insurance claims and verify patient insurance information.

Front Office Duties :

  • Manage the reception area, including checking in patients, verifying insurance, and collecting co-pays.
  • Maintain a clean and organized front desk area.

Clinical Tasks :

  • Escort patients to examination rooms and prepare them for the physician's examination.
  • Measure and record vital signs, such as blood pressure, temperature, and pulse.

Assisting with Examinations and Procedures :
