WIN Waste Innovations is Hiring a Wastewater Operator Near Putnam, CT

WIN Waste Innovations is currently looking for a Landfill Technician who is responsible for the efficient operation of industrial wastewater management and water supply systems at the ash monofills in Putnam, CT and Shrewsbury, MA.

  • Hands-on monitoring and maintenance of industrial wastewater collection, pretreatment, transmission, and monitoring equipment and systems. Such equipment may include flow meters, submersible leachate pumps, lift station pumps, water well pumps, manual and computer-based control systems, control valves, variable speed drive equipment, pH monitoring and control devices, chemical reagent feed systems, programmable logic controllers, telemetry systems, and liquid level monitoring devices.
  • Assist in operating an on-site 300,000 gpd wastewater pH adjustment system, including making required system adjustments safely and accurately, with outside guidance or assistance as needed.
  • Follow established preventative maintenance program to inspect, maintain, clean, calibrate, and troubleshoot all systems
  • Maintain written records and logs of maintenance activities
  • Direct communication and interaction with applicable vendors, as directed
  • Full compliance with the facility's permits and Operations & Maintenance Plan
  • Perform routine preventive and repair maintenance procedures safely and professionally with minimal supervision in accordance with Federal and State regulations, and Company work rules, policies, and procedures
  • Prioritize work, schedule plans, and follow up on directed assignments
  • Anticipate typical problems, identify potential or recurring problems, and take appropriate action in a timely manner
  • Troubleshoot equipment and assist in diagnosing problem areas
  • Scope and coordinate subcontractor work activities. Assist in identifying and selecting qualified subcontractors and material suppliers
  • Responsible for completing routine rounds on the individual systems equipment and investigate changes in instruments readings and equipment operation. Notifies supervisor of operational inconsistencies or other concerns daily
  • Follow Company policies and guidelines for procurement, bidding, contracting, and billing for all materials and services
  • Respond and report to work during off-hours when emergency response and/or repairs are required
  • Work overtime, as requested
  • Assume increased levels of responsibility when required or requested. Perform lesser skilled duties when required or requested
  • Take ownership of assigned areas; perform routine housekeeping as needed. Maintain work area in a clean, neat, and orderly condition at all times
  • Complete company-assigned training programs within prescribed timeframes
  • Follow standard safety procedures, correct safety and environmental hazards, and report them to their supervisor immediately. Read, understand, and apply information such as lockout/tagout procedures, safety rules, job hazard analyses, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Demonstrate awareness for safety and environmental issues and hazards
  • Communicate clearly and concisely both verbally and in writing; as well as communicate clearly whether using two-way radios or face-to-face.
  • High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED) equivalent
  • 3 years of experience in pump systems and/or water/wastewater treatment field
  • Mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation knowledge and skills sufficient to perform the tasks listed above
  • Experience using hand tools
  • Valid state-issued driver's license required
  • Vehicle (for use only during work hours)
  • Mobile phone
  • Hand tools, power tools, and other equipment as needed to perform the required job functions.
  • Oversee work by vendors and contractors

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $30.00 - $40.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 – 60 per week
