Summary
The Tactical Buyer and Inventory Specialist reports to the Operations Manager and has primary responsibility for purchase order placement, expediting and purchase order follow up.
Responsible for printing / inserting of cycle counts from the Warehouse Lead / Material Handler and for investigating any discrepancies from the cycle counts (a set dollar amount / a set number of pieces).
Additional responsibilities will include transactional entries into the ERP system, root cause analysis and problem solving of inventory discrepancies.
Essential Functions :
Prepare purchase requisitions and issue purchase orders through MRP messages
Communicate with the Operations team on status
Assist in processing discrepancies with regards to receiving and accounts payable
Coordinate returns of non-conforming material along with the communication with the Supplier
Transfer material electronically, in and out of stock locations as needed
Communicate status updates on inventory projects as needed
Locate, analyze and reconcile all inventory variances
Maintain and organize physical stocking locations in the ERP System as needed for efficiency in picking orders, performing inventories, and cycle counts
Track and follow up on inventory issues that arise upon completion of daily cycle counts. Pareto and drive to root cause on inventory discrepancies and ensure proper countermeasures are implemented
Drive continuous improvement activities to increase efficiency
Perform other related duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Education :
Bachelor's degree in a business, supply chain, or technical related field is preferred
Experience :
1 year of experience in purchasing / inventory control
Supplier experience in a Global Supply Chain preferred
Proficiency in MS Excel, Access, MS PowerPoint, MS Word or equivalent
Experience in MRP Systems (JDE preferred)
Competencies :

Strong interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skills
Ability to adapt quickly to changes in work environment and priorities
Collaboration with cross functional teams

Physical Demands
Approximately 50% of the time will be spent on the manufacturing floor
Lifting requirements are generally less than 25 lbs. Lifting could occasionally reach the company maximum of 40 lbs
