The Village Companies is Hiring a Technical Writer Near Pulaski, WI

Description

Create paper and digital instructions to help technical support staff, customers, and other users within the organization to provide superior customer service by having all documents updated and maintained within our products and services. Helps in the creation of work instructions for the assembly teams to be able to build any items. 

Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the engineering change process to ensure changes that impact parts and service are documented and updated in the service manuals and communicate with the service team. 
  • Develop and maintain installation, configuration, how-to documentation, and online help for both customers and employees.
  • Creates service bulletins 
  • Create, update and maintain customer service manuals. 
  • Disseminate technical information in easy-to-understand language for non-technical people.
  • Help Create Video documentation for swapping parts and how to service products. 
  • Create and maintain work instructions for how to assemble parts and assemblies. 
  • Digitize and standardize work instructions for the assembly team, ensuring they are easy to read and understand.

Materials and Equipment Utilized:

  • Typical office equipment

Working Environment:

  • 95% - Office environment
  • 5% - Manufacturing environment; clean, low to moderate noise, safety glasses required and other personal protective equipment where applicable

Requirements

Education and Training:

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Associate degree Preferred
  • 3-5 years of experience in technical writing or similar field

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Publisher or equivalent program
  • Attention to detail
  • Technical mind and ability to visualize 
  • Must have excellent verbal communication skills
  • Must be flexible and have the ability to interact with all levels of the organization
  • Highly motived 
  • Analytical and conceptual thinking skills
  • Ability to multitask and be a self – starter 
  • Ability to check all technical material for consistency and accuracy 
  • Skilled at creating graphics and technical illustrations
  • Video editing
