Rhode Island Coalition to End Homelessness is Hiring a Communications and Development Associate Near Providence, RI

Position Title: Communications and Development Associate

Supervised By: Chief Strategy Officer (CSO)

Position Type: Full Time, Exempt M-F Days

Location: Hybrid, regular in office work and in person meetings within RI required

Salary: $60,000 - 65,000 Annual Salary

Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

The Communications and Development Associates (CDA) primary responsibility is to manage all day to day communications needs of the organization including social media, media requests, press releases and the website. The CDA will also facilitate a development committee composed of staff and board members to provide general oversight of all development activities - including individual donor relations, corporate relations, special events and other fundraising campaigns. This role will be responsible for achieving outcomes set for social media analytics and fundraising. This candidate must display excellent verbal and written communications skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks.. This position works closely with staff members, key stakeholders, local media outlets, donors and corporate partners.

Overall Operations:

  • Work with the Senior Leadership Team and Development committee to create an annual development plan,
  • Support the development and implementation of the agency’s communication plan and deploy strategies to execute it. Responsible for developing high quality materials for the website, press and other distribution as needed. Ensure that all materials are updated on a timely basis.

External Communications:

  • Serve as the main Point of Contact and maintain an updated contact list for all local media outlets
  • Serve as the main point of contact for all Coalition media events including but not limited to planning, developing materials, logistics, media engagement, creating press kits, coordinating with member agencies or other key stakeholders and follow-up activities
  • Work with all Coalition staff and key stakeholders to create content and manage all social media platforms. Ensure that all social media content is inline with agency expectations and communication plan
  • Coordinate with vendors associated with communications activities including third party Customer Relation Management (CRM) software, print houses etc.
  • Maintain adequate documentation of communications activities including press mentions, photo releases etc. Ensure that Coalition communications are inline with state partners and national advocacy organizations by maintaining updated records of annual reports, issue briefs and other materials they publish

Fundraising

  • Responsible for leading agency fundraising activities including developing annual fundraising planning to include goals for individual giving, corporate donors, major gifts and special events
  • Execute fundraising strategy under the direction of the Coalition Leadership and Board of Director to identify and engage new prospects as well as to maintain and deepen existing relationships with donors.
  • Accountable for oversight of the CRM to ensure timely and accurate recording information, acknowledgement and reporting.
  • Consistently display sound judgment, good boundaries and promote a healthy, positive working environment
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Lived experience of homelessness, domestic violence, or housing insecurity.
  • Bachelors degree in communications, public administration, human services, public policy, and/or related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • 5 years professional experience working in communications and development position .
  • Demonstrated expertise in event planning, negotiation, data collection, donor databases, and relationship management.
  • Prior experience with Constant Contact, Little Green Light, Action Network, Canva, and Wix
  • Experience in social media and website management.
  • Bilingual speaker (Spanish)

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $60,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
