The Opportunity This position works out of our Plano, TX location in the Neuromodulation Division. Our Neuromodulation business includes implantable devices compatible with mobile technology to help people who suffer from chronic pain and movement disorders. These non-opioid therapies allow us to provide interventional pain therapy to patients throughout the pain continuum. MAIN PURPOSE OF ROLE Responsible for setting up and operating a variety of computer-controlled and/or mechanically controlled machine tools to produce precision metal parts, instruments or tools. Work includes assignment planning, layout, set up, operating and making tool adjustments for various types of manual, numerically controlled and computerized machine shop equipment. Works from blueprints, process documents to perform production tasks, which may include the cutting and shaping of metals and plastics to precision dimensions. These functions must be performed in compliance with all Company and Departmental Standard Operating Procedures. MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES Sets up, adjusts and operates standard and special types of machine tools to perform diversified machining operations on work having close tolerance and finish specifications. Takes initiative to ensure work is done accurately and completely. Performs assignments of moderate complexity. Applies existing work methods to different known situations. Problems involve recurring, routine situations; usually refers more complex problems to supervisor or more senior level personnel within organization. When not predetermined or prescribed, plans operational sequences, selects tooling, spindle speeds, tool feed rates, attachments, work supports, etc., to suit work and material characteristics for setups. Positions, aligns and secures work between centers, on table or bed of machine using care to block and support parts to avoid distortion or tool deflection affecting dimensional specifications; orients tool to reference point and correlates integral table or tool head calibrating devices to the different steps of dimensionally related machining locations and cutting conditions. May grind or prescribe grind for special and standard tooling to compensate for material characteristics, variations, and cutting conditions. Cleans and maintains machines and sharpens tools as required. Performs heat treating procedures as required. May set-up/utilize special test equipment. Notifies supervisor of the need to replenish supplies/materials and of any technical difficulties that cannot be readily corrected Support all Company initiatives as identified by management and in support of Quality Management Systems (QMS), Environmental Management Systems (EMS), and other regulatory requirements. Complies with U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations, other regulatory requirements, Company policies, operating procedures, processes, and task assignments. Maintains positive and cooperative communications and collaboration with all levels of employees, customers, contractors, and vendors. Experience/Background Experience: 4 to 6 years related experience Experience Details: Ability to work on assignments that are complex in nature where considerable judgment and initiative are required in resolving problems and making recommendations. May determine methods and procedures on new assignments and may provide guidance to other employees. Ability to follow departmental Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) dictated by FDA and ISO requirements. Good math, problem-solving and computer skills. Ability to form and develop interpersonal, professional relationships. Display socially and professionally appropriate behavior. Ability to work independently and in groups. Demonstrated initiative and problem-solving skills. Ability to prioritize. Ability and aptitude to provide solutions and contingency plans through the comprehensive review of alternative.
