The County Attorney serves under the Board of Supervisors and works closely with County Administration. The County Attorney provides legal counsel and advice in civil matters to the Board of Supervisors, Planning Commission and other boards, commissions, departments and officials of the County as directed by the Board of Supervisors. The County Attorney drafts ordinances and resolutions to implement policy decisions; prosecutes code violations; and represents the County in litigation. The position will handle legal matters to include, but are not limited to: Constitutional law, construction, contracts, employment disputes, environmental, land use, real estate, eminent domain, taxation, parliamentary procedure and procurement. The County seeks to form an in-house County Attorney’s office to continue the same exceptional levels of service we are accustomed to. Initially the department is expected to be the County Attorney plus one assistant position, which the successful candidate will hire. With some time on the job, the candidate shall advise the Board as to any future staffing needs. The County Attorney will be provided a small historic office building in the Courthouse Village, within easy walking distance of all County offices, courts, parks, trails, coffee shop and restaurants. While the County favors staffing the position as a full-time employee of the County, it will entertain proposals for contracted legal services that would provide similar levels of service and seamlessly replicate the accessibility of in-house counsel.Click HERE for the recruitment brochure for this position.The County Attorney position is open until filled.
