FMI Truck Sales & Service is Hiring a Diesel Service Technician Near Portland, OR

JOB DESCRIPTION: DIESEL SERVICE TECHNICIAN - PORTLAND LOCATION

Primary Function:

Exceed customer’s expectations of customer service while attending to service and repair demands in a professional manner. Position requires written explanations of services performed clearly documented for every vehicle.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Consult with shop foreman/shop manager and read work orders to determine work required.
  • Plan work procedures, using technical charts and manuals.
  • Follow checklists to ensure that all critical parts are examined.
  • Diagnose malfunction and proceed with repairs accordingly.
  • Read and interpret diagnostic test results to identify mechanical problems.
  • Order parts needed for repairs/services.
  • Repair or replace malfunctioning components, parts, and other mechanical or electrical equipment.
  • Test-drive vehicles to ensure that they run smoothly.
  • Legibly and accurately record services performed, time accrued and parts used.
  • Inform Foreman when job is complete.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area, adhere to safety protocols.
  • Attend & complete required technical training programs and schools.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Computer knowledge, keyboarding skills, able to read and write in English.
  • Knowledge in all aspect of engine, electric repair and maintenance.
  • Possess own tools.
  • Have a valid driver’s license, maintain a good driving record, and be able to get a medical card per DOT guidelines.
