TIAG is Hiring a Control Systems Engineer Near Port Hueneme, CA

TIAG is seeking a highly skilled Control Systems Engineer to join our team in supporting the Naval Facilities Engineering Command (NAVFAC) at Port Hueneme, CA.
The successful candidate will provide critical support to the NAVFAC Engineering and Expeditionary Warfare Center (EXWC) in the areas of cybersecurity, lab management, technology development, control system engineering, cyber programmatic support, and training services for NAVFAC personnel, stakeholders, and users worldwide.
Key Responsibilities
  • Operate and conduct cybersecurity testing/evaluation of embedded and facility control systems deployed at Navy shore installations and facilities. This includes managing multiple, concurrent large-scale physical and virtual simulations of integrated IT/OT infrastructure with hardware-in-the-loop access for actual test articles.
  • Provide comprehensive engineering support for Facility Related Control Systems (FRCS), including Utility Control Systems (UCS), Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA), Building Control Systems (BCS) such as HVAC, lighting, access control, electrical distribution systems, water treatment and distribution, natural gas and steam distribution systems, and Advanced Meter Infrastructure (AMI) metering, data management, and network systems.
  • Design, implement, troubleshoot, and modify control system programs using various technologies and languages, including but not limited to BACnet, Modbus, Profinet, Lonworks, and DNP3.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the smooth operation and integration of control systems across the organization.
Required Qualifications
  • Active DoD Secret Clearance or ability to obtain.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an accredited University.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in control systems engineering, preferably within a DoD environment.
  • Demonstrated expertise in interpreting electrical/mechanical flow and instrument diagrams, as well as ICS/SCADA protocols used by major vendors such as Schneider Electric, Johnson Controls, SEL, Tridium, and similar.
  • Experience in interpreting and creating low voltage electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
  • In-depth knowledge and hands-on experience with SCADA communication standards like Modbus, DNP3, BACnet, MSTP, RS485, RS232, and RS422.
  • Proven experience with IEC-61131-type programming logic controllers (PLCs) such as Schneider Electric M580, Rockwell ControlLogix, and Tridium Niagara JACE controller.
  • Minimum certification as IAT Level II per DoD 8140 (such as Security ), or successor.
  • Strong time management skills and ability to meet assigned milestones consistently.
Preferred Skills
  • Proficiency in Python scripting for automation and data analysis.
  • Familiarity with Linux operating systems.
  • Basic operational technology networking knowledge (familiarity with Purdue model, OSI model, common ports and protocols, segmentation, VLANs, TCP/IP, etc.).
  • Experience working with Tridium Niagara platform.
  • Expertise in BACnet troubleshooting and optimization.
  • Familiarity with industry standards and best practices, such as NIST, ISA, and IEEE.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks and standards, such as NIST SP 800-53 and IEC 62443.
  • Knowledge of industrial control system security best practices and techniques.
  • Knowledge of National Electrical Code (NEC) requirements for low voltage systems.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose issues in low voltage systems, such as: identifying and resolving communication errors and data loss, isolating and repairing wiring faults and short circuits.
Additional Requirements
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally to various government installations and facilities as needed.
In California, the standard pay range for this role is $130,000- $150,000 annually. This range is specific to California and may not be applicable in other locations.
