Cerebral Palsy of Westchester is Hiring a Behavior Intervention Specialist Near Port Chester, NY

SUMMARY

Responsible for development and implementation of psychological services in the Day Habilitation program/Residential Program. Position requires "hands-on" participant contact in both physical (SCIP) and counseling capacity. Position also requires providing staff observations, consultations in-services, and guidance and emergency procedures.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide counseling to program participants as needed, weekly or short-term during solution focused sessions and under the supervision of LCSW.
  • Conduct observations of participants and interviews with staff, and communicate with residents, care managers and family members as needed.
  • Attend quarterly and special meetings for participants with behavioral supports and report on current behavior strategies and participants' progress.
  • Participate in Interdisciplinary Treatment Team meetings and provide written reports if necessary.
  • Develop Behavior Support Plans, Behavior Protocols, Medication Monitoring Plans, Reward Programs and revise them at least annually or more frequently if needed.
  • Conduct staff in-services/trainings for each behavior program and protocol. (If unable to do training personally, train supervisors so they may train staff. Will attend monthly staff special meetings, if possible, and in-service staff in attendance).
  • Implement and review data sheets at least monthly but preferably on a weekly basis and address any documentation errors with staff and supervisors. Conduct data analysis when appropriate.
  • Update appropriate sections of Developmental Disabilities Profile as requested by Program Coordinator/Program Specialist
  • Ensure that all Behavior Programs/Protocol and Data Charts are up to date.
  • Prepare and present HRC Reports to the Human Rights Committee when/if necessary. Ensure that staff are trained in the implementation of all approved behavior plans and protocols.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Knowledge of the program planning process and a good understanding of human dynamics.
  • Knowledge of regulatory behavioral requirements for participants with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
  • A strong ability to work independently and to use common sense in work situations.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft word, Excel, email and the ability to complete and file assigned paperwork.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

  • Masters Degree in Psychology preferred and/or BCBA certification is preferred.
  • Consideration will be given to those who possess Bachelors Degree in Psychology and at least one year of experience in the field of intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $24.50 - $26.50 per hour
