Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Check customers out and assist with building material questions as needed.
  • Must be Flexible in hours worked including alternating Saturday's. Closed on Sunday.
  • Stocking store with merchandise as directed by Store Manager.
  • Assist office manager as needed.
  • Ability to read tape measure and compute measurements.

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Ability to read a tape measure and compute measurements is required. Prior building material experience and working in home improvement stores is a plus. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED)

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and of the employees of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

COMPUTER SKILLS

Basic computer skills

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Valid Arkansas drivers license

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Ability to receive and carry out verbal and written instructions; ability to effectively operate simple mechanical devices and hand tools; ability to communicate with employees, managers and professionals.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, and to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand and walk; physical stamina to remain on feet for extended periods of time. The employee must lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus.
