City of Wagner is Hiring a Police Officer Near Platte, SD

Location: Wagner, SD

The Wagner Police Department is accepting applications for full-time police officers. WPD is a proactive law enforcement agency seeking motivated candidates to serve the community.

Wagner, South Dakota is located along SD Highway 46/50 in east river, south central South Dakota, only 12 miles from Fort Randall Dam (on the Missouri River) which offers great fishing, hunting, boating and camping opportunities. It is a growing city with excellent school and health care systems.

WPD offers many unique opportunities and benefits, some of which include:

  • $22.00/hourly pay upon hire, $22.50 upon completion of a six-month probationary period, and $23.00 upon attainment of law enforcement officer certification. Certified officers start at $23.00/hourly.
  • $1.50 night and weekend differential.
  • Benefits include full coverage health insurance for the employee, South Dakota State Retirement, vacation, holiday, and sick leave.
  • Pitman scheduling which includes every other Friday, Saturday, and Sunday off, with 12 hour rotating shifts.
  • New officers complete a Field Training Program to ensure they are equipped to serve. A condensed program is offered to those with prior police experience.
  • Opportunities to attend advanced training.
  • The City of Wagner offers a $1,200.00 residency incentive after moving to and living within the city boundaries for one year.
  • Uniforms and equipment are provided.
