Primary Function:
The Dean works collaboratively with the building administrative team to promote and maintain an environment that is conducive to student learning emphasizing mutual respect and safety. The Dean promotes good attendance rates and identifies students with attendance or disciplinary issues. The Dean addresses attendance and disciplinary issues and fosters a collegial relationship with staff pertaining to student conduct and discipline.
Reports To: Building Principal
Supervisory Responsibilities: Supervises assigned Non-Certified Staff Members
Qualifications:1.Appropriate valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with a General Administrative Endorsement
2.Teaching experience in a middle school environment preferred.
3.Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to work well with administrators, teachers, students, and families.
4.Such alternatives to the above qualifications may be found by the Board as appropriate and acceptable.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:1.Demonstrate support for the Mission, Beliefs and Goals of District 30-C.
2.Uphold the established Board of Education policies, regulations and administrative procedures.
3.Demonstrate professionalism and contribute to a positive work environment.
4.Demonstrates Knowledge of Disciplinary Theory and Techniques
5.Assists with development of practices and procedures designed to implement Board of Education policies relative to student behavior.
6.Organizes and administers a program designed to remediate inappropriate student behavior.
7.Establishes goals for the disciplinary program appropriate to the setting and the students served.
8.Demonstrates knowledge of state
9.Plans the disciplinary program, integrated with the regular school program to promote a positive climate.
10.Develops a plan to evaluate the disciplinary program.
11.Creates an environment of respect and rapport with students and staff.
12.Responds to referrals; consults with teachers and administration.
13.Maintains such records pertaining to student behavior as may be necessary to substantiate student suspensions and recommendations for expulsion.
14.Supervises student processes and procedures designed to improve student attendance and behavior.
15.Communicates behavior problems to parents/guardians for students assigned to them.
16.Explains school disciplinary policies and practices to students and parents.
17.Assists with general supervision of students in and around the building during the school day.
18.Evaluates assigned non-certified staff.
19.Other relevant duties as assigned.

195 Day Contract
Completion of mandated training within 45 days of start date.Evaluation:
Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of 1) Public Act 94-1039 (ILCS 5/24A-15), 2) the Performance Evaluation Reform Act (PERA – 105 ILCS 5/24-25, and 3) the Board of Education’s policy on evaluation of professional personnel.
