Smiley lifting solutions is Hiring a Mechanical Engineer Near Phoenix, AZ

We are looking for positive, talented people to join our team at Smiley Lifting Solutions. We design, manufacture, and service cranes, components and systems for the industrial, military, and construction markets. Our design and engineering capabilities allow us to provide complex components and assemblies to our customers. We are seeking positive, enthusiastic, and motivated individuals to join our team. This position will be responsible for the ownership of the design of parts and accessories from concept to production meeting goals for performance, budget and time.

Essential Job Functions
• Own product design and facilitate purchasing and manufacturing with emphasis on performance, quality, reliability, timely delivery, and cost.
• Determines ideal component manufacturing direction to achieve overall design, performance, serviceability, and quality.
• Understand product use case and prepare testing plans. Document testing results and translate back into the design of the product.
• Work within all digital tools of SolidWorks and SolidWorks PDM to create 3D models, engineering and manufacturing drawings, BOM’s and additional product documentation as required.
• Develop weldment and assembly fixturing for manufacturing when applicable.
• Actively solicit design feedback from internal and external stake holders.
• Incorporates product/component design timeline into complete project timeline understanding key milestones for design, prototyping, testing, and manufacturing.
• Prepare material to support in house cross functional design reviews
• Performs other miscellaneous project related assignments.

Requirements
• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred, or quivalent work experience in Metals, plastics, hydraulics, electrical, and composites.
• Demonstrated ability to implement change in a way that positively impacts overall department and company performance.
• Must be able to handle multiple projects simultaneously and manage evolving priorities
• Must be able to solve complex engineering problems with a positive attitude.
• Must be willing to take ownership of products and projects from concept to delivery.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD Software (SolidWorks). FEA testing/analysis
• Familiar with design benefits / constraints in multiple manufacturing methods. (sheet metal, weldments, machining, etc.)
• Application of engineering principles to ensure product performance
• GD&T, Print layout, FMEA and dimensional tolerance stack ups
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Must excel at working in a team environment with a high level of people/interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to cross functionally drive results
• Experience in fabricating metal components and weldments is desired
