Physical Therapy Assistant Opportunities- Acute Care
Southside Medical Center in Petersburg, VA
Full time, Days
Note: Prior Acute Care experience preferred
Primary Function/General Purpose of Position
The incumbent shall also demonstrate accountability for and contribution to performance improvement activities as applicable, problem solving, and productivity.
Employment Qualifications
- The incumbent shall be a graduate of an APTA approved Associate’s degree program or shall have completed equivalent training, and hold an applicable and current state license or certification to practice.
- Experience working with adult and geriatric populations is desirable.
- Experience working in the acute care setting is desirable however is not required
- Current BLS certification required or obtained within ninety days of completing new employee orientation.
Essential Job Functions
Clinical Area
- Provide age appropriate therapeutic interventions as directed by the Physical Therapist.
- Monitor patient response to treatment.
- Document the course of patient care in the electronic medical record including progress made and continuing need for treatment.
- Provide patient and family education on tasks and resources that support continued functional independence and document same in the electronic medical record.
- Collaborate with the Physical Therapist to develop new methods of delivering education to patients and family.
- Participate in discharge planning as part of the interdisciplinary team.
