PGI MANUFACTURING is Hiring a Calibration Technician Near Peru, IL

Job Summary:
The Quality Calibration Technician specializing in Precision Gaging is responsible for ensuring the precision and accuracy of Precision Gaging and equipment through meticulous calibration, testing, and maintenance. This role is critical in maintaining high-quality production standards and ensuring that all gaging and machines operate within specified tolerances.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Calibration and Testing:

  • Calibrate Precision Gaging and equipment to ensure they meet industry and company specifications.
  • Utilize precision measurement instruments to verify the accuracy of tooling.
  • Perform routine and scheduled calibration checks on all gaging.

2. Quality Assurance:

  • Inspect and test Precision Gaging to ensure they meet quality standards.
  • Conduct root cause analysis for any deviations found during inspections.
  • Develop and implement quality control processes for Precision Gaging calibration.

3. Maintenance and Repair:

  • Diagnose and troubleshoot issues with gaging and equipment.
  • Repair or replace defective components as necessary.
  • Perform preventive maintenance to ensure long-term accuracy and functionality of tools and gages.

4. Documentation and Reporting:

  • Maintain detailed records of calibration activities, results, and corrective actions taken.
  • Prepare and present reports on tool performance, calibration results, and quality issues.
  • Document calibration procedures and update them as necessary.

5. Technical Support and Training:

  • Provide technical support to production and engineering teams regarding Precision Gaging and calibration.
  • Train staff on proper usage and maintenance of Precision Gaging and equipment.
  • Stay updated on the latest advancements in Precision Gaging and calibration technologies.

6. Compliance and Safety:

  • Ensure all calibration activities comply with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and company policies.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures.
  • Participate in safety training sessions and promote a culture of safety within the workplace.

Qualifications:

  • Education (preferred):
  • Associate's degree or technical certification in a related field (e.g., CNC technology, mechanical engineering, metrology).

Experience:

  • Proven experience in calibration and quality assurance of gaging.
  • Familiarity with various precision measurement instruments.
  • NIST quality system.
  • Skills:
  • Proficiency in using precision measurement tools such as micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, and Universal Super Micrometer.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to lift and move small equipment and tooling.
  • Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, dust, and machinery.

Work Environment:

  • The role involves working in a manufacturing setting with exposure to high noise levels, machinery, and varying temperatures. Adherence to safety protocols and wearing appropriate safety gear is mandatory.
