bp and Worley are helping to pioneer renewable fuels in Australia. The Kwinana Renewable Fuels project is one of bp’s five global biofuel projects, repurposing a former oil refinery into a biorefinery producing sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) and Hydrogenated Vegetable Oil (HVO), also known as renewable diesel.

As a Buyer, you will be responsible for you will be responsible for purchasing a wide variety engineered and non-engineered materials and equipment (and associated services) on a competitive basis as required by project or Company needs. Broad experience, particularly in procurement activities typical to the engineering, construction, energy, chemical and resources sectors is required.

What you’ll do

We’re looking for a Buyer to join our Perth team.

The role responsibilities include:

  • Responsible for all assigned activities related to the procurement of equipment, materials and third party contract services ensuring quality compliance of equipment, materials and third party servicesApply HSE considerations, where appropriate, in the Procurement and Contracts processes.
  • Develop and issue tender packages, administer tender process and receive tenders.Undertake review of tender submissions and negotiate any exceptions to Terms and Conditions.
  • Prepare recommendations for award for Client and draft Contracts/Purchase Orders.
  • Populate and manage procurement data systems with required information.
  • Ensure supplier and contractor documentation is received, reviewed and implemented to meet the contract, as appropriate.
  • Work with engineering, planning, project controls, construction, HSE and quality to ensure suppliers and contractors deliver specified services on-time.
  • Monitor and administer contractor/ supplier performance through execution; approve invoices with proper supporting documentation, conduct change negotiations, manage and negotiate claims, maintain contract files, closeout contract when completion has occurred.
  • Support expediting and material control through delivery and receipting of Equipment/Materials to Client facilities.

What you’ll have

  • Demonstrable commitment to HSE requirements in project environments.
  • University Degree, preferably in supply chain, law, business administration, quantity surveying/construction management or related field, or equivalent relevant experience. MCIPS/RIQS accreditation highly regarded.
  • Contracts and procurement experience in executing major projects in an EPCM / EPC organization.
  • Demonstrated experience executing procurement strategies and negotiating terms and conditions.
  • Effectively communication and provide recommendations to project personnel.
  • Works under minimal supervision and able to plan own work and accomplish varied tasks.
  • Strong understanding of processes and tools related to field. Able to assist others and troubleshoot issues.
  • Previous experience with project and procurement software systems and disciplined approach to system data (Aveva ERM, Requis, Aconex highly regarded).
