Bridge Inspector

The Markosky Engineering Group has an immediate need for a Bridge Inspection Team Leader in our Structures Department. The successful candidate will be based in one of our offices (Ligonier, PA; York, PA; Charleston, WV; or Steubenville, OH).

Markosky is currently working in a hybrid work environment. In addition to field time, occasional travel to office will be required._ Travel in Pennsylvania and occasionally to West Virginia and Ohio will be required._

This position involves the inspection of bridges and other highway structures. This position may also afford the successful candidate the opportunity to play a key role in the development of statewide inspection procedures and practices.

Essential Functions

• Serve as bridge inspection team leader
• Perform bridge inspections and develop inspection reports
• Develop priority finding letters or notifications
• Assist with inspection support functions including scheduling of inspection access and railroad coordination
• Other projects / responsibilities may be added at the company's discretion

Job Requirements and Qualifications:

• Certified Bridge Safety Inspector (CBSI)
• Meeting PennDOT CBSI requirements (preferred)
• Meet the requirements of FHWA NBIS Section 650 309
• Fracture critical training and experience is highly desirable
• Scour Evaluation training is highly desirable
• Education: Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (Preferred)
• Training Requirements (licenses/programs/certificates): Engineer-In-Training (EIT) preferred and/or Professional Engineer (PE) (Preferred)

Knowledge Requirements:

• Load rating experience including steel, prestressed concrete and reinforced concrete
• Working knowledge of CADD
• Knowledge of engineering principles, design standards and codes
• Experience with PennDOT and/or PA Turnpike Commission inspection procedures is highly desirable
• Bridge inspection procedures and practices
• Bridge inspection report development

Skills:

• Good oral and written communications required
• Ability to work in a team-oriented environment
• Ability to perform the field work required of the position

Experience: 2-10 years

Education:

• Bachelor's (Preferred but not required)

Experience:

• Bridge inspection: 5 years (Preferred)

License/Certification:

• Meet the requirements of FHWA NBIS Section 650 309 and as followed:
• 5 years of Bridge Inspection Experience
• 2 years of Bridge Inspection Experience BS ABET
• Accredited Engineering/Engineering Technology Program EIT
• 4 years of Bridge Inspection Experience Associates Degree
• ABET Accredited Engineering/Engineering Technology Program

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $75,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
