Summary: We are looking to hire a part-time Youth Minister who will provide oversight and leadership to the youth ministry of Pelahatchie Baptist Church. The Youth Minister will partner with parents and youth volunteers in discipling youth, consistently engage students with the good news of the gospel, and support them in developing their love for Him and others.

To be successful in this position, the Youth Minister will be present in the lives of the youth in their various contexts. He will work to provide a place where students feel they can belong, believe the good news, and become lifelong disciples of Christ.

Youth Minister Qualifications:

• Has a clear testimony of faith in Jesus Christ and a growing relationship with Him.
• Holds a High School Diploma/Equivalent and is either a current University Student or Holds a Bachelor’s Degree.
• Able to articulate a call to ministry.
• Initiative to engage in a revitalization ministry.
• Demonstrates the ability to lead by example, equip, and disciple youth.
• Understands the needs of and has an affinity for young people.
• Strong communication skills
• Skilled with computer applications and social media.
• Teachable and open to feedback and accountability.

Youth Minister Responsibilities

• Provide pastoral care for the youth, encouraging their spiritual growth and challenging them to grow in their commitment to Christ and His mission.
• Plan and coordinate youth events

1 – Weekly Engage meetings on Wednesday evenings

2 – Sunday School on Sunday mornings

3 – Monthly fun events

4 – Outreach events

5 – Youth Summer Camp

6 – Disciple Now Weekend

• Pray regularly for the students.
• Assist in developing and administering annual youth budget.
• Assist in choosing Sunday School curriculum for students.
• Meet w/ Youth Committee to plan and coordinate youth events.
• Meet w/ Church Council to plan and coordinate youth activities with church calendar.
• Build and maintain relationships with parents of students.
• Attend all worship services
• Attend deacons’ meetings as requested

Discipleship/Mentoring Opportunity: As a young minister, he will have the opportunity to be discipled/mentored by the Senior Pastor with 23 years of ministry experience in a variety of fields: Pastoral, Youth Ministry, and Missions (12 years overseas with IMB). The Senior Pastor commits to weekly discipleship/mentoring meetings to provide training and equipping from his experience.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: Up to $20,000.00 per year

Expected hours: 15 per week
