Lowcountry Preparatory School is an independent school that fosters an ideal learning environment by cultivating meaningful connections, designing enriching experiences and prioritizing a secure and supportive environment. Each student is engaged through our broad array of programs as we prepare students to be confident leaders, critical thinkers and responsible decision makers. We have approximately 200 students from kindergarten through 12th grade and are located in beautiful Pawleys Island, South Carolina.
We are seeking a Second Grade Teacher to join our Lower School team starting August 1st, 2024. This position will be full-time and report directly to the Head of School.
Job Summary: The Second Grade Teacher at Lowcountry Preparatory School is responsible for implementing a comprehensive and connected instructional program tailored to the unique needs, interests, and abilities of second-grade students. This role is pivotal in creating a positive and effective learning environment that aligns with the school's philosophy and goals.
Essential Duties:
· Classroom Instruction:
o Create an engaging classroom environment that fosters a love for learning.
o Develop and deliver a program of study that caters to the individual learning styles, needs, and interests of students.
· Lesson Planning and Preparation:
o Prepare lesson plans and curriculum materials in advance, incorporating a variety of instructional techniques to support student learning.
o Set clear learning objectives for each lesson and guide the learning process towards the achievement of curriculum goals.
· Classroom Management and Discipline:
o Expect students to maintain high standards of classroom decorum and behavior.
o Foster a positive and respectful classroom atmosphere conducive to learning.
· Assessment and Reporting:
o Regularly assess student progress and achievement, formally and informally.
o Provide feedback and progress reports as required.
· Professional Development:
o Continuously strive to enhance professional competence by staying updated on educational best practices.
· Collaboration:
o Attend staff meetings and actively participate in school committees or activities as required.
· Additional Responsibilities:
o Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Head of School.
Preferences:
· Prior elementary school teaching experience
· Teaching certification in elementary education
Salary: Commensurate with teaching experience and educational qualifications
