Duties
Applicants will be evaluated on: 1) the depth, breadth and quality of their experience in technical areas related to NAWCAD's mission; 2) recent and relevant experience preparing and prosecuting patent applications; 3) oral communication skills and ability to develop strong attorney-client relationships; 4) ability to work both independently and as part of a team; 5) research, analytical, and writing skills; and, 6) interpersonal skills. Applicants with a record of making significant contributions to the advancement of the Department of the Navy OGC or equivalent Office of the General Counsel or Law Firm/Office beyond the day to day legal practice are desired.
EducationThe successful candidate must have graduated from a law school accredited by the American Bar Association; must possess an undergraduate degree in electrical engineering, chemical engineering or must have completed the equivalent course work to have obtained an electrical or chemical engineering degree; be an active member in good standing of the bar of the highest court of a State, U.S. Commonwealth, U.S. Territory, or the District of Columbia, and be admitted to practice before a state or a federal court and the United States Patent and Trademark Office.

- You will provide a range of intellectual property services, including drafting and prosecuting patent applications, reviewing research publications for potentially patentable material.
- You will represent the command and prepare and present briefs, arguments and materials before the Patent and Trademark Office, administrative boards and Federal Courts.
- You will provide legal advice and services to personnel on a regular basis.
- You will provide litigation support for patent infringement claims, resolving patent and copyright administrative claims.
- Must be a US Citizen.
- Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
- Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

- Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.

- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
