Job Overview
Provides mental health screening assessments and makes appropriate interventions and referrals, in consultation with Supervisor and the on-site or on-call psychiatrist. Provides a full range of mental health treatment services 24/7, including: Mobile Outreach/Screening, responding to hotline calls, assessments, crisis counseling, case management and participates in interdisciplinary treatment planning, record keeping, consultation and education. Provides care to patients ranging in age from child through geriatric. Acts as clinical liaison as necessary between psychiatrists, RN and ER attending.
Work requires the knowledge of theories, principles and concepts normally acquired through completion of a Master’s degree in social work, psychology or closely related field; one year of experience in a psychiatric setting plus three to six months of on-the-job training and orientation or Bachelor's degree and two to three years of previous experience. Valid driver’s license required, as well as compliance with Qualifications to Drive a System Vehicle as well as all policies as outlined in the SJHS Fleet Management & Safety Program. Work requires the analytical ability to collect information from diverse sources, apply professional principles in performing various analyses, and summarize the information and data in order to solve problems. Work requires the ability to prepare detailed assessments of patient referrals, counseling individual, group or family members, or perform other duties requiring a comparable level of communication skill. Work requires providing direct, age specific patient care as appropriate to treatment setting.
