BAYSTAR is Hiring a Buyer Near Pasadena, TX
This role will provide with tactical procurement support in assisting Baystar requisitioners to execute the Purchase-to-Pay process.
In fulfilling this role, you will ensure that Baystar’s Service Providers and relevant stakeholders work together to ensure business needs are met.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with company personnel to ensure effective strategy integration through Baystar’s supply chain.
- Convert Purchase Requisitions to Purchase Orders for Baystar
- Ensure that all steps in the procurement-to-pay processes are per the agreed governance/policies
- Provide training for Baystar requisitioners on the Purchase-to-Pay process
- Capture and report key findings from procurement activities that can be used to gain efficiencies and or knowledge for similar engagements, including number of days to convert PR to a PO
- Run monthly SAP Purchase Order Spend Reports
- Run weekly SAP reports for Requisitions and Purchase Orders that need approved, and communicate and follow up on actionable items with appropriate stakeholders
- Interface with other functions (Vendor Management, Accounts Payable, etc) as necessary, to facilitate the P2P process.
- Support the purchasing function and other relevant departments and communicate any supply problems which may impact on business operations
- Act as an interface between suppliers and other relevant departments on purchasing processes and new projects and activities
- Monitor and advise on any issues which present risk or opportunity to the organization
- Prepare reports and updates as and when required
- Work closely with others in the procurement function and review opportunities for continuous improvement and business improvements
- Maintains records of goods that have been ordered and corresponding shipping dates.
- Confirms shipping dates with vendors.
- Monitors shipping notices to avoid potential problems with deliveries.
- Reports major shipping problems to stakeholders.
- Assigns tracers to shipments to identify delays once order is in transit.
- Maintains business relationships with suppliers to ensure their assistance if an unexpected event requires expedited shipping of an order.
- Performs other duties in alignment with job role, as assigned

- Advanced SAP skills
- Strong knowledge and understanding of the procurement process
- Must have demonstrated experience working collaboratively as well as independently with both functional and cross-functional teams
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Proficient in MS Office
- Bachelor’s degree in Business or Finance
- 5 years of related experience
- Spanish language skills
- Follow safety requirements (goggles, PPE, etc.) when inside plant environment
- Walk safely in and around industrial areas
- Speak publicly (such as at employee meetings)
- Sit for extended periods of time at a computer and work with computer-based data
