Mary Help of Christians Catholic School in Parkland, Florida has an opening for a Full-Time Maintenance Person. This position will be responsible for maintenance / custodial duties to ensure that the facilities appearance positively reflects and enhances the school and church. The candidate must be supportive and respectful of the mission and tenets of the Roman Catholic Church.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

• Tends to the cleaning and custodial care of the school facilities.
• Vacuums, sweeps, mops, dusts, wipes down glass surfaces, and polishes woodwork and furniture.
• Empties trash containers, refills liners, disposes of all trash in a sanitary way, using bags placed in the dumpsters.
• Removes litter and debris from all areas, observing proper disposal practices.
• Cleans restrooms.
• Takes care of minor plumbing repairs.
• Organizes and maintains inventory of cleaning supplies and cleaning equipment.
• Monitors daily the condition of and takes care of the facilities; Seeks resolutions as necessary.
• Lifts and/or moves boxes and furniture.
• Completes tasks according to appropriate specifications, standards/best work practices and within scheduled parameters.
• Keeps supervisor apprised of progress, notifying him of delays.
• Reports maintenance concerns to the immediate supervisor.
• Prioritizes assignments while managing several projects at the same time.

Qualifications:

• Minimum: High-school diploma or G.E.D. with three years’ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Preferred: High-school diploma or G.E.D. with five years’ related experience and/or training.
• Technical or trade school coursework in building technology and/or HVAC a plus.
• At least 3-5 years of experience in custodial work.
• Good time management skills.
• Ability to carry 25 pounds; move or push up to 50 pounds with assistance/PPE.
• Ability to bend, sit, climb stairs.
• Knowledge of materials, methods, tools involved in the cleaning of buildings or other structures.
• Must be safety conscious and able to perform all work according to safe work practices while maintaining a safe, clean work area and tools, and report any hazards to supervisor.
• Good English-language communication skills required.
• Supportive of the mission and tenets of the Roman Catholic Church.
• Must have a pleasant, service-oriented demeanor with good people skills.
