We are seeking a professional like you to join our team. As a materials supervisor you will be responsible for ensuring safe and high-quality production while leading their team, developing and executing an operations training program, and verifying operator understanding of tasks.

In addition, you will initiate work orders, review loading / unloading schedules for raw materials arriving via truck and rail, and work towards ensuring a safe and environmentally conscious workplace.

During your 8-hour shift as a Materials Supervisor, you will

Ensure that all activities within assigned operating areas are carried out in compliance with BASF Regulations, the site Responsible Care Management System, and all relevant State and Federal regulations.

Carry out assigned duties as part of the site Emergency Response team.

• Execute and achieve unloading schedule via effective planning, resource allocation, prioritization, and decision making, providing support to the resolution of process and equipment issues when required.
• Ensure effective ownership of production assets by the operations team - compliance with operations-led maintenance and housekeeping & 5S schedules;

all equipment performance issues are diagnosed and actioned effectively; all plant preparation, start-ups, and changeovers completed in a safe and timely manner in order to meet plan.

• Manage the job set-up procedure for operations, maintenance, and engineering work, including lock-out, tag-out and the safety work permit systems.
• Lead, manage, and develop the competence of the operator team to ensure effective performance and motivation.
• Provide accurate and timely communications to computer systems (e.g. SAP) and to other site departments to ensure effective and transparent execution of production and related operations.

If you...

• Have a high school diploma or GED.
• Have 3 years of experience as an Operator in one or more of the operating units at the BASF Hannibal plant OR 3 years of supervisory experience in an industrial manufacturing environment outside.
• Demonstrate coaching and leadership skills, tact, and the ability to communicate effectively and build strong relationships with individuals at all levels of the organization.
• Have computer literacy and familiarity with Microsoft Office suite and previous SAP experience.
• Possess good problem solving and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to quickly address and resolve equipment, process, and / or people issues.
• Demonstrate good written and verbal communication skills.
