About us

Compassionate Directions, also known as CODI, operates a compassionate not-for-profit behavioral health outpatient clinic for children (ages infant through 21) and families in the Matanuska-Susitna Borough.

Title: Behavioral Health Associate

Status: Full Time ; Non-Exempt

Reports To: Executive Director

Clinical Supervison provided by the directing clinican assigned to each case and over all clinical direction from the clinical director.

Position Summary:
Responsible for providing rehabilitation services to youth who meet criteria for being Severely Emotionally Disturbed (SED) and their families. This position is a community based position with some work provided in the clinic, school, community, and possibly in client homes. The focus of the interventions is to improve the youth/ families overall functioning and reducing the likelihood of removal from a school or home setting or reduce the risk of institutional care. This position teaches recipients and their families’ direct skills that promote wellness, recovery from behavioral health disorders, and builds resiliency. These skills can include age appropriate social skills, self-management skills, as well as the ability to make better choices within the family, school, and or community.

Essential Duties:
1. Responsible for teaching a variety of rehabilitation skills with the overall goal of increasing an individual’s functioning and reducing their risk of removal from community/family settings. Specific skills taught will depend on the youth’s needs but may include teaching social skills, the ability to regulate one’s own emotions, how to make healthy decisions, teaching skills specific to the recovery of a variety of behavioral health disorders.
2. Demonstrate familiarity with the clients’ treatment plan. The treatment needs listed on this plan drives all services delivered by the Behavioral Health Associate.
3. Responsible to know and maintain a positive and collaborative relationship with clients, coalitions, community members and agencies, and co-workers, in order to best serve clients and the community.
4. Timely documentation of all contacts with the client, family and all services provided into CareLogic data system within 72 hours of time of contact.
5. Respond in a therapeutic manner even when clients are upset, non-complaint with rules or their treatment plan, providing support, de-escalation and recovery focused interventions. Follow MAB or other behavior management guidelines.
6. Behavioral Health Associates are responsible to know all applicable policies and procedures, Federal, State, local and Medicaid Regulations in regards to providing services, and documentation including: HIPAA/42CFR/HITECH.
7. Responsible for maintaining and promoting ethical clinical practices consistent with professional standards and the client’s right to be treated with dignity and respect.
8. Commitment to quality and evidence-based best practices.
9. Participate in internal and external meetings related to clients.
10. Participate in routine staff meetings.
11. Participate in routine individual, clinical, and administrative supervision.
12. Responsible for positive, clear and direct communication.
13. Encourage families to actively participate in the treatment planning and service delivery process.
14. Participate in agency trainings and the clinical supervision meetings as well as quality and case review process.
15. Transport via private or company vehicle, client’s to/from home/ school/ agency and community settings when working on skills.
16. Other duties as assigned.

Productivity: This position is required to work hours assigned with youth. Ability to work at least 35 hours per week. This position is required to meet a 70% productivity rate.

Minimum Education and Experience Qualifications:
Education: Require minimum of high school diploma or GED. Prefer degree in related field.
Experience: Preferred two years of related experience, preferably in behavioral health.
Must be at least 21 years old.

Certification/Licensing & Other Requirements:
Upon Hire an employee must complete:
1. Current TB Screening test document and every year following hire.
2. Current DHSS background check and fingerprinting.
3. Current confidentiality acknowledgement.
4. Proof of valid Alaska driver’s license and current vehicle insurance on file.
Within 90 days of hire an employee must have:
1. Current First Aid/CPR and Blood Bourne Pathogen certification and every two years following hire.
2. MAB certification (Basic level minimum, Intermediate, Advanced, Trainer).

I.T.: Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word and CareLogic.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $16.00 - $23.00 per hour
